Chapter 30 - Moving On

Khushi couldn't believe what she heard right now. Was her Chachi really apologizing to her? She was not sure whether she was in a dream world or the real world. But when she heard her Chachi say the same words again, she realized that she was not dreaming at all. Khushi felt sorry for her Chachi, and she couldn't bear to see her so weak.
"No Chachi, there's no need for you to say sorry", Khushi said, as she was worried for her.
"No Khushi, let me speak today. I know I have ignored you all this time. It's not because I hated you, but Lavanya was my priority. Also Chachu and I are not good at showing our love towards anyone, not even Lavanya. Have you ever seen us being all cuddly with Lav, no right? That's the way we are. But that doesn't mean we don't love you. Yet, I have to say that I always hesitated to accept that you acted more responsible than Lavanya. You were always better than her. But I didn't want to accept it in open, because Lavanya is a stubborn girl. And if I took your side in front of her, I was afraid that she would think that I cared more about you than my own daughter. So I remained silent. Because I always knew no matter what anybody said about you, you would always do the right thing. So I'm sorry Khushi", Mona said, while tears rolled down her face.
"It's alright Chachi. I can understand. I'm sorry if Arnav hurt Chachu's or your feelings yesterday in anyway. I don't mind if you didn't show me your love, or scolded me or anything which made me hurt even slightly. But I felt broken from inside yesterday, when I realized that you both didn't trust me at all. Why Chachi? Why? You do realize I love you both a lot and that I wouldn't do anything to ruin your reputation, right?", Khushi asked, while silver drops of water started to cascade down her soft cheeks.
"I'm sorry Khushi, I'm really sorry. It won't happen again. If you can, please forgive us", Mona said, while tears continued to roll down as she was unable to stop herself from crying.
Khushi couldn't see the tears in anyone else's face. After all her name implied giving happiness to the others. And she hated to see tears in her Chachi's eyes, as she was the reason behind those tears. She suddenly embraced her Chachi in a hug.
"It's alright Chachi, I want us to be happy. So can we start over?", Khushi asked, softly.
Mona broke the hug and looked at Khushi's face. She couldn't believe herself as to how she had hurt this innocent girl all this time.
"Yeah, we can", Mona said, while a faint smile appeared on her face. Khushi wiped Mona's tears and Mona placed a soft kiss on Khushi's head and stood up hoping to take leave.
"I gotta go Khushi. Your Chachu will be back anytime. Give him sometime as well. It will take sometime for him to come around", Mona said, while smiling at Khushi.
"Ok Chachi. Good night", Khushi said while smiling back.
"Good night", Mona said, while leaving her room.
After Mona left, Khushi went under her duvet to drift off to her dreamland. She was feeling much better after opening up to Mona today. And sleep didn't take much time to take over her tired, fragile body. Although she was tired, she felt much more relaxed in her mind after so many years.
Next day morning Khushi woke up early feeling much more refreshed. As soon as she got down from the bed, she went to her window and greeted the sun, which was part of her daily routine. Then she went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. She was feeling more lively and cheerful today. And she knew the reason behind it. She thanked her Devi Maiyya for helping her to cope up with everything that was going on in her life. She dressed herself in a black and white dress(http://www.dofreefashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/do-free-fashion_64430.jpg) and tied her hair in a high ponytail. Khushi quickly ran downstairs and saw that Mona and Rajiv were already having breakfast. She joined them and sat next to Rajiv. Khushi greeted both of them. Lavanya was not to be seen, and she thought that may be she was still sleeping as she came late last night. Khushi remembered what Mona had said before leaving her room last night. She thought that she should give her Chachu more time. But she didn't like the tension in the air, so she thought of clearing it at least a little bit.
"I'm really sorry Chachu for what happened day before yesterday. If you can, please forgive me", Khushi said sincerely.
Rajiv looked at Khushi's face and continued with his breakfast. Khushi knew that he was still upset, and she didn't know what more she could do. So she thought of letting time solve the problem. Mona looked at Khushi, and smiled at her innocently. Khushi returned the smile and continued with her breakfast.
At around 9.00am, Khushi arrived at the office. She wanted to meet Arnav, but she went to leave her handbag and files in her cabin first. After leaving her stuff in her cabin, Khushi straight away went to Arnav's cabin. She wanted to know what Arnav wanted to tell about Lavanya. Khushi opened the cabin door without knocking and went in.
"Good morning Arnav", Khushi said cheerfully.
"Good morning. I thought I had told all my employees to knock before entering my cabin", Arnav said with his signature smirk on his face.
"Okay, stop it. I know what your playing at, and it's not going to work. Aren't you least curious to know as to why I am in a good mood?", Khushi asked, while seating herself in the chair in front of his table.
'You are always in a good mood. I don't think it's unusual. I would have asked what's up, if you were in bad mood. Anyway, whether you ask me or not, you are going to tell what ever is going in that small mind", Arnav said, hoping to tease Khushi.
"Fine, tease all you want. Do you know that Chachi came and apologized to me yesterday, and somehow I managed to open up to her as well", Khushi said, happily.
Arnav could see that Khushi was truly happy, as her smile had reached her eyes, and her eyes were twinkling like bright stars in the dark night sky.
"Wow, that's great. I'm glad you opened up to her. Are you feeling better now? Will I get my Khushi back?", Arnav asked, smiling at her.
"Yeah, I'm feeling much better. But Chachu doesn't seem to be all friendly with me. But I hope everything will be alright in the future", Khushi said.
"Hmmm... By the way, I need to talk to you", Arnav said thoughtfully.
"Oh yeah, about Lavanya right? What about her?", Khushi asked, while staring at him with questioning eyes.
"Yeah about her too. But first I need to talk with Rahul and you about a special project", Arnav said.
"Okay, so where is your best friend?", Khushi asked.
"Here I am", Rahul entered the cabin right on time, before Arnav could jump at him for being late.
"Good morning to the lovey dovey couple". Rahul greeted, while sitting down comfortably
"Good morning", Arnav said.
"Okay, so I'm going to jump straight in to the topic. As I told you both before, there is a new project. And whom ever that gets this project on their hands, will be able to open their design house in Canada. Now since we already have our company's branches opened in UK and USA, I thought it's time to reach Canada as well. But this time it's going to be more competitive. There are the Raichand's, Khanna's and Sharma's. But you both have to remember the most special thing is that my dad, is going to compete as well", Arnav said, firmly,
Khushi and Rahul were both shocked, when Arnav mentioned his father.
"Are you serious? You mean the Mallik Fashions?", Rahul said with surprise.
"Yep", Arnav said.
"But why now? They only do business in USA. After such a long time, what are they up to?", Rahul asked, as he felt that there was something fishy going on.
"I really don't know what's going on in that man's mastermind. But one thing I can tell you, he will do whatever it takes to win this project over me. So I somehow need to get my hands on this project. There are two months for us to prepare. So I need both of you to put in your full effort to get this project", Arnav said, as he wanted to win over this project so badly.
"Don't worry Arnav. We will. Just tell us what to do", Khushi said, as she knew what this project meant for Arnav.
"Rahul, I need you to choose the best models, and handle all the other paper work. As for Khushi, I need you to find another designer as good as you. You can't design three collections at the same time. So go and tell Aman to advertise the new designer post, and start the interviews from day after tomorrow. And by the end of next week, I need you to choose one. Select the best ten designers by next Thursday and I will join you to pick the best one out of them.  Also Rahul, I need you to hire  five new interns to assist Khushi and the other designer. So start going to the universities and interview the students. And tell me when your doing the final interview round in each university, as I want to be there to choose. Is everything clear?", Arnav went on describing his plan in a hurry, as he had to talk to his employees separately again.
By later in the afternoon, Khushi with the help of Aman had advertised and sent notices about the new designer post available in AR Designs. She was sure that there would be many candidates who would love to do this job. The thing she was not sure about was, whether they would be perfect for the job.
After a hectic day, Arnav was feeling as if he was a half dead person. He leaned his head on his chair, and closed his eyes. Suddenly he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in", Arnav said. He already knew that it was Khushi, when he heard the sound of the knock.
"Hey, have you finished work?", Arnav asked, while still keeping his eyes shut.
Khushi was amazed when Arnav had recognized her without even opening his eyes. She could see that Arnav was stressed out and that he was tired. She walked to his side of the table and stood beside his chair. She leaned towards his face and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
"Stop thinking Arnav. You will get the project. After-all, when Khushi is here, not to fear", Khushi said, while smiling at Arnav, who had opened his eyes when he felt her lips touch his skin. Khushi sat on the table and waited for him to start a conversation.
"I know Khushi. But my dad was a very cunning person. And I'm sure he must be much more worse by now", Arnav said, in a worried tone.
"No matter how cunning he his, with our hard work, talent and luck, we will somehow get this project", Khushi said, hoping to ease out Arnav.
"Hard work and talent we have, but what about luck?", Arnav asked, questioningly.
"Oh that, we have plenty. Look at you. You wouldn't have got me as your life partner if you weren't lucky. And it's the same for me. Rahul and you are both lucky to have each other. I can go on if you want. But I guess that this is enough to make you realize that luck is with us as well", Khushi said smiling at him.
"Well, I have to say I have the most intelligent designer in the whole world. Anyway Khushi, I need to talk about Lavanya", Arnav said, hoping to talk about the other topic that had been bugging him since two days.
"What about her, Arnav?", Khushi asked, as she was clueless of what Arnav wanted to talk about her cousin.
"After the way she talked to you that day, I have been having second thoughts about Akash and Lavanya's marriage. Do you think she would be the best choice for Akash?", Arnav asked, hoping Khushi could help him clear his doubts.
"Arnav, why didn't you think of this before? You knew Lavanya was different from me, right?", Khushi asked, as she felt that it was too late now.
"I only knew that she was a typical rich girl. Unlike the other rich girls, she is ambitious and intelligent. After the engagement only I got to know from Rahul that she loves to go clubbing. Well, it is not a problem, as long as she knows her limits. After-all Akash is similar to Lavanya, as he even loves partying and stuff, unlike me. But after Chaya's death, he changed. Recently, after engaging to Lavanya, I feel that Akash is changing back to his old self. The fun loving, carefree guy. She seems to love Arush as well. I have seen three of them going out together in the past couple of days. And they seem happy. But...", Arnav stopped, as Khushi cut him off in the middle.
"But what Arnav? I know what is bothering you. It's about me, right? I know that Lav hates me. No matter how hard she tries to be nice with me, she can't. That's her nature. And I don't care anymore. I haven't done anything wrong to her, so I hope one day she will realize that she was wrong all these days. But I'm not going to say that she is not suitable for Akash. Because I have seen Lavanya bonding well with Arush and Akash. So may be they will change her one day. Yet, if you are still unsure about this, you should talk to someone in your family", Khushi said, hoping what she said was reasonable.
"I guess you are right, Khushi. Anyway, I'm going to talk to someone about this before something happens. But remember, no matter what happens in the future..."
"You will always be with me, right?", Khushi said, while completing the sentence that Arnav started.
Arnav took her hand and placed a kiss on her fingers. Just then a sudden knock on the door, made them realize that they were still in the office.
"Come in", Arnav said firmly, as he felt a little irritated with people for always disturbing his private moments.
"Hey Arnav"
Khushi and Arnav were both surprised to see the person that had just entered the cabin. It was not anyone else, but the person they were talking about just few minutes before. It was Lavanya.

Do you think that Lavanya heard Arnav and Khushi's conversation? If so, what will she do next?

Chapter 29 - Consoling Each Other, Always

After returning home, Arnav tried to call Khushi for several times, but all his efforts were useless. Khushi had switched off her phone, and Arnav was worried and angry at the same time. Arnav didn't know what he had to do. He understood that Khushi needed sometime alone, but that didn't mean she could just ignore him like that. But after thinking, he realized that he had done the same thing before, when he had hid himself from the others on the day of his mother's death anniversary. So he made up his mind, and thought of talking to her tomorrow at the office. Arnav also decided that he wouldn't tell anything about what happened at Khushi's place to his family, because it was a problem at her house.
Next day, Arnav woke up early in the morning and left for office earlier than usual. All night his sleep was disturbed by the thoughts about Khushi. He was worried like hell. He wanted to know, whether she had her dinner, whether she cried all day, how she was doing, did she sleep at all, etc. But he couldn't call her as well. As he arrived in the office he saw that Khushi was talking with another employee about something. As he didn't want to push her too much, he silently went towards his cabin. At least Khushi had arrived for work today, and that made him glad.
It had been two hours after Arnav arrived in the office, and still Khushi come to his cabin. He was feeling restless, he really wanted to see her. He thought of calling her into his cabin or even going into her cabin, but he stopped himself. Arnav knew Khushi wouldn't like that. So he thought of giving her some more time. Just as he was about to resume with his work, he heard a soft knock on his cabin door.
"Come in", Arnav said. He was still staring on his laptop screen, when he heard the voice he was longing to hear since last night.
"I need you to check these designs ASR. And if you feel they are good, tell Aman to send these to the client he was talking about". As soon as Arnav heard the words being muttered in a cold, firm manner, he froze for sometime. This wasn't his Khushi. He felt himself melting from inside due to the anger that was raging within him. She was ignoring him. "What was wrong with her? Why is she talking to me like that? What did I do wrong?", Arnav thought to himself. He couldn't be patient anymore. He stood up from his chair and walked towards her in a fast pace. He roughly grabbed her from her shoulders and started to spit out the words in anger.
"What the hell is wrong with you Khushi? How dare you switch off your phone like that? Do you have any idea how worried I were for you?".
"Really? What's the difference in the way I acted, from the way you acted on your mom's death anniversary day?", Khushi said, without thinking how hurt her words would make Arnav.
"Wow, is this the way of you changing the topic? Great. Stop trying to point the finger at me. You can't just ignore what happened yesterday Khushi, you should at least open up to me or Payal", Arnav said, shaking Khushi slightly hoping that she would show some kind of normal reaction.
"There's nothing to say Arnav. And who do you think you are to just barge in to my house and blame Chachu and Chachi about their daughter's character? How do you think they must have felt? You are no different from them", Khushi said, while shaking his hands off from her and running out of the cabin.
Arnav was shocked to hear her words. After all that happened she was blaming him and that too to the way he pointed the finger at Lavanya. Who was this girl? She surely couldn't be a normal human being. Because no human being could be like her. She could forgive the people who said she was characterless without a second thought? She surely must be a god's messenger. Normally, if someone else talked to him the way Khushi did, he would have surely blasted off by now. But this was Khushi, and he realized that he was wrong in the way he acted at her house. After-all, Mona and Rajiv were elder than him and also they were going to become his in-laws. So he knew he had to apologize to them. But right now, although he wanted to go and console Khushi, he had to leave for an urgent meeting. So he left the office, hoping he would be able to talk to Khushi later in the evening.
Later that evening, at around 5.30pm Arnav arrived in the office after the meeting. Just when he was about to enter his cabin, he saw a faint light in Khushi's cabin and he figured out that she hadn't still left. He thought this was the right moment to talk to her, so he went towards her cabin. As soon as he opened the door to enter her room, he was astonished to see what he saw right in front of him. She was sitting down on the floor and was hiding her face between her knees. It didn't take time for him to realize she was crying. He reached towards her and made himself comfortable beside her.
When Khushi felt someone's warmth beside her, she realized it was non other than Arnav. She didn't want to move away from him, because she knew her words would have hurt him a lot. She wanted to apologize to him, but she didn't have the strength to do that. She was grateful and angry at the same time for  what he did for her yesterday. She was grateful that he stood by as he always had promised. But she didn't like the way Arnav lifted his finger towards Lavanya, in front of her Chachu and Chachi. So instead of apologizing, she thought of holding back. And since the time she had blurted out at Arnav, she had been crying all day long.
"Khushi, look at me", Arnav said softly.
When his words reached her ears, she looked up after few seconds. Arnav didn't have words to explain how he felt, when he saw her beautiful hazel coloured eyes filled with tears. Her eyes were all red and he realized that she had cried out the whole day.
"I'm sorry Khushi, I shouldn't have talked to your Chachu and Chachi in that way. They are elders and I should have respected them. But I'm not sorry for standing by you. I agree I did the wrong thing by talking about Lavanya like that, but at least now they will realize what the other people think about her. At least now they will try to mend Lavanya a little. I have come across so many girls since Sheetal, and they were all beautiful, talented, wealthy, ambitious, everything. But, why do you think I didn't fall in love with them? It's because they don't have the one thing you have. The character. A girl's character tells who she is from inside. And if there is one thing I cannot bear people blaming you about, that would be your character. No one, not even my family have the right to point their finger at your character. And if one day even if  they would do that, my reaction would be the same as yesterday. So I'm not sorry for the way I acted yesterday, but I will apologize from Chachu and Chachi for the way I accused Lavanya", Arnav said, hoping to make her understand what kind of thoughts that were going within his brain.
Khushi was surprised at the way he talked, and never in her dreams did she believe that she would get such an understanding partner. And now she was feeling more guilty for the way she acted with Arnav in the morning.
"I'm sorry Arnav. I didn't mean to. I don't know what made me talk to you like that", Khushi said, while sobbing. She couldn't still stop crying.
"Ssshhh... Come here", Arnav said, while taking her in for a warm hug. Khushi felt much better being wrapped around in his arms. She felt as if there was only Arnav and her in this whole world. But the reality struck her, and she knew it was not only them. She had to face the people around her eventually. Since last night Khushi hadn't met her Chachu, Chachi or Lavanya, as she left early in the morning from the house. And she knew Arnav was telling the truth. She could bear any accusation from the whole world, but not when someone accused her of her character. She had been trying to neglect the accusations she got from her Chachu and Chachi since last night, hoping that she could be strong from next morning. But her efforts went in vain. Now she knew if she didn't open up to someone, she would go crazy.
"Arnav, why does everyone hate me? What have I done wrong? I didn't make my parents leave this world, god did. It was his fault, that I became an orphan. But thanks to god, I got a house to live. Although they didn't shower me with love, I got all I wanted. And if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have agreed to marry you. I'm really grateful for them, I really am. But I don't know how else I am supposed to show them my love. If I show them my love in open, they would laugh at me. So I thought of just to show them how much I care, but it's all useless. Let's say they really love me and they doesn't know how to show it, but at least I thought they would trust me. But after what they said to me yesterday, I realized that they don't trust me at all. I have been trying all night to think that it was just because they were angry, that they shouted at me like that. But every time when I remember they indirectly implied me to a characterless girl, I feel as if my heart is being squeezed by a pair of large hands. And I feel as if I would stop breathing at that very moment", Khushi said, while tears went on rolling down her cheeks.
Arnav was so glad, as Khushi had opened up to him and this was the first time she had actually talked about how she felt about her Chachu and Chachi. He knew that the way Rajiv and Mona talked to her was wrong, but he was grateful for them for keeping her alive all this time without letting her be brought up by total strangers.
"Khushi, listen to me carefully. I know the way they talked to you was wrong. And if I were you,god knows what I will do. I would surely do something I would regret later. But you are thousand times different and better than me. So don't ever think of putting negative thoughts in to your mind about them. Even though they are not your own parents, they gave you everything you need. May be they are not the type that showers love openly, but they were there. But look at my dad. He left for another woman, and he never for a second thought of looking back. So when compared to me, your lucky. I know you don't hate them and you can never do that, because your Khushi. But you should talk to them, directly. Try and open up to them. Tell them what you feel".
Khushi was amazed at the way Arnav was trying to console her. She felt as if he was a total stranger. Today he was the mature one in their relationship, and she felt that all the words that came from his mouth was true.
"I will try", Khushi said, softly.
Khushi's crying had stopped by now, and Arnav was relived to see Khushi was feeling much better after their conversation. He was surprised when she suddenly stood up as if she was ready to leave. He quickly pulled her, and Khushi fell on him with a soft shriek.
"What are you doing Arnav?", Khushi asked, as she was surprised with Arnav's sudden pull.
"After doing a counselling session for such a long time, you are going to leave? Just like that? What about my payment?", Arnav asked, with a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.
Khushi's eyes became the size of saucers at the word "payment", and she knew what Arnav was hinting at. A small blush was now clearly visible in her cheeks. She slowly leaned her head down and took in his lips for a passionate kiss. Arnav was taken in by surprise, as he expected her to give a kiss on his cheeks. But now he realized that she was the soon-to-be Mrs.Raizada, and she was clearly like him. Doing the right thing at the right time. They continued their passionate kiss and Khushi could feel the accelerating speed of her breathing. She could also feel butterflies in her stomach. As their tounges entered each others mouths, they started to taste every nook and corner in their mouth. They would have drifted off to a world of passion, but they knew this was not the right time. Finally both of them stopped and took a deep breath. Both of them realized that neither of them wanted to stop, but they had no choice.
After their passionate kiss, Arnav had left towards his cabin to get his stuff to leave. Khushi took her hand bag and waited downstairs until Arnav joined her. Once Arnav joined her, both of them left the office together. In the car park, Khushi was about to leave after saying good bye, but Arnav stopped her.
"Hey Khushi, I need to talk to you about that contract I wanted to tell you yesterday. But today was not the right day. So we will talk tomorrow, shall we?", Arnav said.
"Sure, no problem", Khushi said. But she realized that it was not all Arnav wanted to talk about. "What is it Arnav? What else do you want to talk about?".
"Lavanya. But we will talk about her later as well", Arnav said thoughtfully. He placed a butterfly kiss on her cheek and bid her goodbye. Khushi nodded and smiled at the way Arnav always remembered to leave a sweet memory before leaving her every time.
After reaching home Khushi realized that the whole house was silent. She went to the kitchen and asked Rama to bring dinner to her room, as she was dead tired. Khushi had a warm bath and changed in to her pyjamas. After sometime Rama had brought in her dinner. She enjoyed the meal, but she felt alone. She normally had the dinner with Chachu and Chachi. Most of the nights Lavanya was out with her friends, so it was normally three of them at the dinner table. She was thinking about what Arnav had said, when a sudden knock on her door brought her back to reality.
"Come in", Khushi said. Khushi was surprised to see the person that had entered. It was Mona. As soon as Khushi's eyes came in contact with her Chachi's, Khushi realized that Mona had cried as well. Her eyes were red and there were dark circles around her eyes, indicating that she hadn't slept as well. Khushi quickly went towards Chachi, and took her hand in hers.
"Chachi, what happened? Why are you crying? Come here", Khushi said, while making Mona sit beside her on her bed.
"I'm sorry Khushi", Mona suddenly uttered the words she had been waiting to tell since last night.

Will Khushi open up to Mona? What does Arnav want to talk about Lavanya? What's so special about the contract?

Chapter 28 - Lies & Guilt

As soon as Khushi reached home, after being dropped by Arnav, she freshened herself. Khushi was wearing a yellow coloured tank top (http://images.madeinchina.com/9ABAACE1CDF4E37EE040007F01006991/488/6609488/
VANCL-Solid-Color-Basic-Tank-Top-Yellow-SKU-47022_6609488.bak.jpg) and a pair of denim blue three quarters. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. There was nobody at home, as everybody had left for work. After having lunch Khushi retired to her room to take a nap, as she was feeling bored. She was just about to get under her duvet, when she was interrupted by a phone call. And the caller was none other than Payal.

"Hey Payal, how are you?", Khushi asked cheerfully.
"Hey Khush, I think I should ask you that question? How was the night with Arnav?", Payal asked, hoping to tease Khushi.
"Okay, okay. I know you want to take revenge from me because I used to tease you all the time. So I'm not going to stop you. But I really wanted to thank you for not letting anyone know about the lie", Khushi said in a grateful tone.
"Hey, what are friends for? Anyway, you didn't do anything wrong at the first place. You were giving support to your fiance, when he needed your support the most", Payal said, trying to justify Khushi's actions.
"I know. But you know Chachu and Chachi. I should think about their reputation as well. But I didn't have a choice. He needed me. So I did what I thought was right at the moment. The only wrong thing I did was lying about it. But I know they wouldn't understand. And Arnav also doesn't want others to know the state he was in yesterday . After-all it's his personal life", Khushi went on explaining herself to Payal, as she was feeling a little guilty.
"Khush, stop trying to feel guilty. Lets stop this topic. So how is your relationship with ASR?", Payal asked.
"Well, I have to say it is stronger than I thought. He doesn't open up to me all the time. But he tries his best to make our relationship work. He is not perfect, but he is good enough for me. He keeps me happy, and that's all that matters. Also I'm sure that whatever happens, he will always be with me", Khushi said, feeling happy about their relationship.
"Wow, lucky you. I'm glad that ASR is really supportive. I'm really happy for you", Payal said, in a sad tone.
Khushi now felt that something was wrong.
"Payal, what happened? Is everything alright between Aman and you? I mean did Aman tell something? Or did his family say something?", Khushi asked, as she was worried for her best friend.
"Oh no, Khushi. Nothing like that. It's just that I never imagined that Arnav would be the perfect life partner for you. But I guess I was wrong", Payal said, trying to hide her emotions.
"Yeah, me neither. But seems like he is", Khushi said, feeling that she should let Payal open up to her, without trying to push her too much.
"Okay then, I gotta go Khushi. Buaji is looking for me. Take care", Payal said, hoping to end the conversation.
"Okay sweetie. Tell "hi" to Buaji for me. Take care. Bye", Khushi said.
After Payal hung up, Khushi wondered what was Payal upset about. But she knew that Payal would open up to her, when she thought it was the right time. So finally Khushi went under her duvet and thought of having her much awaited nap.
It was around 6.00pm, when Khushi finally woke up. She felt refreshed, and dehydrated at the same time. She first splashed some water on her face and went downstairs to drink some water. After quenching her thirst, Khushi chatted with Rama for sometime. Khushi was so busy these days that she didn't get much time to catch up with Rama. Suddenly both of them heard the sound of the door bell and they realized that Chachu and Chachi had arrived. Khushi told Rama that she would open the door, so she went towards the front door.
Khushi went and opened the door while greeting them with a smile.
"Hello Chachu, hi Chachi".
Both Mona and Rajiv ignored her greeting and entered the house.
"Rama bring us coffee", Chachi shouted.
Khushi was wondering why her aunt and uncle were ignoring her, but she tried to be nice.
"Wait Chachi, I will bring the coffee", Khushi said, while turning around to leave towards the kitchen.
"Oh, there's no need. You don't need to show that you care for us", Khushi froze after hearing her Chachi's words. She knew what her Chachi was hinting at.
Khushi turned around and continued to speak. "Chachi, what's wrong. I'm not showing it off. I love you both, and you both should know that already by now".
"Really? Stop faking Khushi. We don't need your love. We have our daughter, Lavanya. What worries us the most is, after giving you all the things you need for survival, is this the way you repay us", Chachi said, in an anger mixed hurt tone.
"Mona, stop this. Your words are useless", Rajiv said, angrily.
"No. Let me speak, Rajiv. Tell me Khushi, where were you last night? And don't you dare say you were at Payal's house", Mona continued in anger.
Khushi knew that it was useless trying to hide the truth anymore, and she knew no matter what she told right now, it was of no use. The finger was already pointed at her. She didn't want them to know Arnav's state as well.
"I'm sorry for lying, Chachi. But I can't tell you where I was", Khushi said, looking down sadly.
"See Mona, I told you know. Useless talking to this girl. I was sure that she must have done something stupid, which she is already regretting by now", Rajiv said, throwing an accusation at Khushi.
Khushi's eyes were filled with tears. The tears were not because she was hurt by them scolding at her, but because she realized how low they thought of her. She figured that they have never trusted her all this time. She didn't have the strength to stand up for them anymore. All these years she thought one day that they would understand her, but she was wrong. She was broken down, and she didn't know what to say. She felt as if she was suffocating.
"Tell us Khushi. With whom did you spend the night? What will Arnav think of you now? Leave Arnav aside, what will happen to Lavanya? Will the Raizada's be ready to give their son to a girl, whose cousin who has slept with another man while being engaged? What more were you looking for Khushi? Wasn't Arnav SIngh Raizada's money enough? Oh I see, you wanted his money, so you agreed to marry him. So you get money from one person, while the other pleasures you", Rajiv kept on accusing Khushi, and Khushi couldn't listen to all this false accusations anymore.
"That's enough", Khushi shouted, while the tears were now running down her soft cheeks at a greater speed.
"Why? Does the truth hurt that much? So who was the guy? A freelancer like you, who doesn't have a permanent job?", Rajiv asked, sarcastically.
"No, Mr.Gupta. She was with me last night", all three of them turned around to see the source of the voice. It was Arnav. Both Mona and Rajiv were dumbstruck after what they heard.
"Arnav, what are you doing here?", Khushi asked, softly.
"I came to discuss about a new contract I have to sign. I didn't want to come. But had to, because it was important. And seems like I came at the right time", Arnav said roughly, and came and stood beside Khushi.
"And for your knowledge Mr.Gupta, seems like you didn't know that your daughter has now joined our company. She is the Head Designer of AR Designs. Oh, I forgot. How would you know, when you only consider Lavanya as your daughter and Khushi is just the adopted daughter, right?", Arnav said, sarcastically.
Rajiv was now fuming at the way his son-in-law was talking to him. So he went on spitting words in anger. "Wow Khushi, you have got a very supportive fiance. And you two seem to be perfect for each other. Else, why would you both decide to spend the night together, when you both know clearly it would ruin both the families reputations. So bravo Khushi, you have found your perfect match. I thought you were much more intelligent than she was, Arnav. But I guess I was wrong".
"Uncle, I don't want to argue with you, but I can't stand quiet when my fiancee is being insulted like this for something she has not done. Yes, she was with me last night. But I was the one who asked her to stay, as I was upset yesterday. I know what I asked her to do was wrong, but that was my moment of weakness. I'm sorry. But what I can't understand is how you can go on accusing her, without knowing the whole truth? You are one of the country's top lawyers, and is this the way you handle problems? You have known her for such a long time, yet you don't trust her. But do you know how my family reacted after knowing the truth? They believed that Khushi was an intelligent girl from a respected family. And they were confident that she would know her limits. Do you know that before taking any decision, she always thinks about both of you? She even agreed to this marriage, because she wanted you all to be happy. Just because she didn't come home one night you judged her, just like that? Fine, lets say Khushi did something wrong, what about Lavanya? How many nights have she stayed out whole night, that too without informing you? Would you have accused her like this as well?", Arnav went on expressing his anger in the form of words. If they weren't elders, he would have already done something that he would regret later. He tried to control the fire that was burning him from inside.
"What is that supposed to mean Arnav?". Lavanya, who had arrived few minutes earlier, had heard what Arnav had said. She was now boiling from inside, so she went on uttering words without thinking.
"Just because your girl is being pointed for her wrong doing, don't try to turn the tables on me. Why did you both lie, if you both didn't do something wrong? Thank god, I got to know through Aman. Yesterday late at night Aman called me to talk about a legal matter, and he was with Payal at that time. And when I asked him how she was, he said she was fine. Next time when you lie, make sure you make it a perfect lie. As for accusing me, you've got no right to tell those things about me".
"Really, why not? Tell me how many nights you have spent partying in the club till morning? Don't think I don't know about you Lavanya. If Rahul is your friend, he is my friend too. And he got to know me, before he got to know you. You really think I don't know about your character? Just because I kept my mouth shut all this time, doesn't mean I'm fond of you. Tell me, with how many guys have you spent the night in your life?", Arnav asked, bursting out angrily.
Lavanya couldn't bear it anymore. "How dare you?", she didn't know when, but her hand was on midair ready to slap him. But something stopped her. Khushi's firm grip had stopped Lavanya from slapping Arnav.
"Don't you dare even think about that", Khushi said. Khushi''s eyes were now glinting with anger. She had heard enough, and she had had enough of all this drama that was taking place around her for no reason.
"He is my fiance. And never do the mistake of lifting you hand against him. Why, what happened? Did the truth hurt you that much Lavanya? Well, that's how I felt. I know you haven't done that mistake yet. I felt the same way you felt, when I was accused of bad character. Well, I don't think there is a need to talk about this anymore.  I'm sorry for lying yesterday, but I'm not sorry for being with Arnav last night", Khushi said firmly, and ran upstairs while crying her eyes off.
Arnav knew it was not the right time for him to console Khushi. So he left, hoping to call Khushi later. After Arnav left, Lavanya ran to her room and closed her door with a bang in anger. Rajiv left towards his room, still fuming from inside. But Mona was confused. After-all she was a mother. Yes, it was true that she had always taken Lavanya's side, yet she always knew Khushi was right. The truth was, the mother inside her was never ready to accept the fact that Khushi was better than Lavanya. But now Mona was doubting her thoughts and actions. And she didn't know what she was supposed to do anymore.

Will Arnav be able to console Khushi? If so, how will he do it? Will Mona regret the way she had treated Khushi all this time? Will she apologize to her?

Chapter 27 - Support

Two love birds were all cuddled up with each other and were sleeping lovingly in each others arms, were once again interrupted by the sudden ring of the morning alarm. Arnav irritatedly woke up to the loud ringing sound of the alarm of his phone and quickly stopped it. He saw the sleeping beauty who was sleeping beside him and a smile appeared on his face, realizing how cute and childish Khushi looked when she was sleeping. But it was already 7.30am and he thought it was time for her to leave. So he tried to wake her up.
"Khushi, wake up", Arnav said, while caressing her cheek with his thumb.
Khushi snuggled more towards him and said, "Let me sleep some more Arnav".
She pouted her lips and Arnav couldn't resist his feelings anymore. She looked adorable, even though she hadn't dressed to kill. She had worn a simple white kurta top and black jeans(http://www.dealsfight.com/images/product/fashion/lakhnavi-cotton-white-kurti.jpg). The white colour added a more serene look to her face. Her hair was left open. There were a pair of white pearl earrings on her ears. Her neck was as usual adorned by his gift. She really looked charming, even in her sleep.
He slowly leaned down to take her lips by his. Khushi opened her eyes with shock, when she felt her lips being touched by the one man she loved. She gave in, as she was feeling weak by the passionate kiss he was continuing on her lips. Her breathing was speeding up like the speed of a racing car, and she could almost feel her heart skipping many usual beats. After few minutes, his tongue gained entry towards her mouth and their tongues were dancing together to their own sweet melody. After continuing their passionate kiss for almost 15 minutes, Arnav then trailed butterfly kisses along her jaw line. Khushi couldn't bear Arnav's sweet torture, and she knew if he kept on torturing her like this, she would lose her self control at that very moment.
"Arnav stop. I thought you said I should wake up", Khushi said, while giggling like a small girl.
Arnav understood that he had to stop now, so he rested his head on his pillow once again. He pulled Khushi more towards him and made her head rest on his chest.
"Your weird, you know that right? First, you said to let you sleep, and now you are saying that you need to wake up", Arnav said, smiling.
"Well, how can I sleep when you are not letting me do that?", Khushi said, with a cute pout on her face again.
"If you keep on pouting like that, I won't be able to keep my lips off yours", Arnav said, while smirking at her.
Khushi was now blushing uncontrollably, and she felt a sudden urge to kiss his cheeks. So she lifted her head and placed a sweet kiss on his cheek. Arnav in response placed another kiss on her head and said "Don't worry, I won't cross our limits Khushi".
Khushi felt relieved and she was glad that he understood her, without the need of expressing herself aloud.
Sudden silence on the room was broken by the ringing tone of Arnav's phone. Arnav answered the phone, seeing that the call was from Rahul.
"What's up Rahul?", Arnav answered, a little irritated for disturbing his private moments.
"Good morning to you too", Rahul said, in his usual teasing tone.
"Good morning", Arnav greeted.
"How are you, dude?", Rahul asked, as he was worried for his best friend.
"I'm fine", Arnav said, remembering what happened yesterday.
"Arnav, I had to say something. Actually two things. First one is that, there was a problem with some clients and I somehow managed it. I will boss around your office today as well, so that you can rest today", Rahul said, in a nervous tone. He was nervous to tell the second reason for his call.
"Thanks. And the second reason is...", Arnav said, with his unique smirk appearing on his face again. Khushi looked at Arnav, with her innocent eyes. Khushi felt as if Arnav had figured out how she got to know about his secret apartment. So she pleaded to him through her eyes to not to jump at Rahul. He smiled at her, ensuring that he wouldn't. Then he put the phone on speakers.
"The second reason is, I wanted you to know Khushi knows about your apartment", Rahul spit out the words, hoping that Arnav would not kill him in cold blood.
"I guessed that you must have spit out about my apartment. I can't imagine why I trusted you with a secret at the first place", Arnav said sarcastically.
"How do you know? Do you mean that she visited you? Look Arnav, your girl is quite the emotional blackmailer, just like your sister. Thank god, I don't have to see your sister everyday. Because she is quite intimidating. I thought Khushi was not like that. But seems like she is more like your sister. Both the women in your life are quite dangerous. You can't deal with your Di, but I'm telling you bro. It's not still late to escape from the other one", Rahul said, hoping to lighten up Arnav.
Arnav couldn't stop himself from bursting out laughing, because he saw the look on Khushi's face and he realized that Rahul was going to become a dead person now.
"What did you say Rahul? You are trying to manipulate Arnav to leave me? I'm his fiancee, and you are just his friend. If I want, I can tell him to leave you for me. And I'm sure he would gladly do that", Khushi said, angrily.
Arnav was still laughing. Rahul was surprised to hear Khushi's voice and he realized that she had stayed overnight with Arnav.
"Shit Arnav, why didn't you tell me she is there? You even put the phone on speaker. Anyway, it was not my fault. How could you Khushi. You promised", Rahul said, in an upset tone.
"Uffo, you are a complete idiot. You made me promise to not to tell anyone, and I didn't", Khushi said, while laughing.
"Fine. I have to agree that your smart, just like Arnav. So tell me, what are you doing in his apartment, early in the morning?", Rahul asked, flipping to his teasing mode again.
"Okay, that's it dude. You already wasted 15 minutes of my precious time. I gotta drop Khushi at her house. You are not going to spit out a single word about anything you told or heard in this morning", Arnav said firmly.
"Don't worry Bro, I won't. My lips are sealed.  Okay then, Khushi Bhabhi-to-be. See you later. Hope you enjoyed the night", Rahul said, once again hoping to tease both Arnav and Khushi.
"Rahul!!!!!!!!!!!!!', Arnav shouted.
Rahul quickly cut the call, and Arnav was now smiling at his best friend's uncontrollable chatter box. Then he saw that Khushi was blushing and her face was like a strawberry.
"Okay, stop blushing. It's time to wake up", Arnav said.
Khushi hit his chest with her small fist and said, "You go and take a shower. I will make coffee".
"Thanks Khushi", Arnav said while getting down from the bed, and he headed towards the bathroom.
Khushi was now up and she made two cups of coffee. Right on time, Arnav came out of the bathroom, wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt and blue jeans. Khushi couldn't take eyes off him right now, as he was looking like a super hot teenager. His hair was not gelled and she wanted to run her fingers through his hair. She came towards him and handed over the cup. She then went towards the bathroom to freshen up. Since she didn't have any clothes with her, she thought of changing once she went home.
While coming out of the bathroom Khushi suddenly remembered that she didn't inform Payal about her lie. So she quickly took the phone from the bedside table and was about to dial Payal, when Arnav came from behind and snatched her phone.
"What the hell, Arnav? Give me the phone quickly. I need to call Payal and tell her about the lie I told Lav", Khushi said, while panicking.
"Don't worry Khushi, I already called her. When you were in the bathroom, I remembered that you didn't inform Payal and I explained everything to her", Arnav said, trying to calm down Khushi.
"Thank god Arnav. I felt as if I would be dead, if by any chance Payal contacted Lav or anyone in the house", Khushi said, while hugging Arnav for acting so wisely.
After sometime both of them stepped out of the hug and Arnav felt that it was time for them to leave. Even Khushi agreed, as it was already 9.00am. So both of them were about to leave, when Arnav stopped Khushi to say something.
"Khushi, I need a favour. I know you don't want me to hide stuff from anyone. But can you please not tell anyone about this apartment?", Arnav said, in a pleading tone.
"Hey, I can understand. Everybody needs to have their own personal space to get some peace from the people around them. So I promise you that I won't tell anyone", Khushi said, while holding his hand reassuringly.
After dropping off Khushi at her place, Arnav had now arrived home. He felt as if he had entered a new territory, because it had been three days since he came home. No one was to be seen, as it was a weekday. But he wondered where Di and Nani was. He saw Hari Prakash, and he asked from him where his sister and Nani was.
Hari Prakash had said that Di was in Nani's room, and now Arnav was slowly heading towards Nani's room. When he was about to enter the room, he felt a slight smile appear on his face after seeing the scene in front of him. His Di was closing her eyes while enjoying the feeling of Nani oil massage. He cleared his throat to make them aware that he was there and both of them looked up with surprise.
"Arre Chottey, you came", Nani said happily.
"Yeah Nani", Arnav said, while walking towards them. Arnav could feel that his Di was still not in the mood to talk, but he knew he had to be the mature one at the moment. So he sat down in front of Di and continued to pacify her.
"Di, I'm sorry. I know I was wrong to leave you alone yesterday like that. You know that I can't bare the pain I feel on this day. And I don't want you to go through pain, by seeing the pain I'm suffering from. That's why I don't attend the pooja every year. But today I will tell you one thing. I will try to attend the pooja next year. But I won't promise you, but I will surely try", Arnav said, hoping his Di would understand.
Anjali's eyes filled with tears after hearing her Chottey's words. She felt guilty for not talking to him and not trying to understand his state. She suddenly embraced Arnav in a hug, letting all the emotions that she was hiding inside, flow through tears.
I'm sorry Chottey. I won't force you next time. But I'm sure you will be there sitting next to me, next year", Anjali said, letting a small smile appear on her face.
"How can you be so sure Di?", Arnav asked, because he was surprised as to how she was so confident about him attending the pooja.
"Because of Khushi. All these years you never talked to me like this, after returning back from being all alone on mom's death anniversary. But I feel like that Khushi was the reason for you to behave like this today. And I'm proud to have a Bhabhi like her", Anjali said, as she had realized Khushi must have talked to him yesterday.
"Well, what can I say Di. She is a keeper", Arnav said, with a wink.
Nani was happy to see the sister-brother duo bonding, as she never wanted to see them sharing the silent treatment with each other.
"Come on, Nani. This is not fair. It's been a long time since you gave me an oil massage", Arnav said, while forming a pout with his lips. Both Nani and Di laughed at their Chottey. He really looked like a kid, when he pouted his lips.
"Come here", Nani said. Arnav took Anjali's place and Nani started to apply oil on her favourite grandson's head.
While enjoying the magic of his Nani's fingers on his head, Arnav felt a strong urge to tell the truth about Khushi, spending the night with him. Although he knew this would make both the people with him panic, he knew it was the right thing to do.
"Nani, Di, I have to tell you both something. Yesterday Khushi came to meet me. She came to talk, but later when she was about to leave, I couldn't let her do that. I didn't want to stay alone, so I asked her to stay with me last night. But I promise you both, nothing happened between us", Arnav said, explaining the situation.
Nani and Anjali looked at each others faces for sometime, and Anjali started to speak.
"Arrey Chottey, you don't need to explain anything. We know you, and we know that you wouldn't do anything wrong. As for Khushi, she is a well behaved girl from a respected family. And we are sure that she knows her limits as well. So don't worry, we won't judge you both", Anjali smiled, while cupping his face with her palms.
Arnav felt as if he had the most amazing people in his life. He felt relieved after letting out what he had been hiding inside himself all these years, from the ones he loved. And after sometime, Arnav had unknowingly fallen asleep on Nani's lap. Both Nani and Anjali looked at their Chottey sleeping peacefully like a child, and both of them smiled at each other while their hearts filled with happiness.

Will Khushi's family get to know about the lie? If so, who would have leaked the truth?

Chapter 26 - Holding his Hand

It was the day of Arnav's mother's death anniversary and all the members of the family were present, except for Arnav. Khushi had arrived together with Lavanya, Chachu and Chachi. She realized that Arnav was not there and she was worried. After taking blessings from Nani, Khushi asked about Arnav's whereabouts from her, and she even didn't know where he was. But one thing was sure, that he was in the country. Because according to Nani, if he left the country, he would have informed the family earlier. Neither had he called his family nor Khushi after he left early from the office, day before yesterday.
The pooja was successful and went according to the way it was planned. Nani had insisted the Gupta family to join for lunch, so they stayed. After lunch, all were in the living room, talking about various stuff. Khushi saw that Anjali was silent today, compared to the other days she had met her. And she knew it was because of Arnav. Khushi felt sorry for both Anjali and Arnav. When she was lost in her thoughts, suddenly Khushi's phone rang. The caller was Aman.
"Hello Aman, what is it?", Khushi asked.
"Hello Khushi, there is an emergency situation in the office. Do you know where Arnav Sir is?", Aman asked, worriedly.
"Sorry Aman, but I don't know. You know that he doesn't want to meet anyone on this day every year, right?", Khushi said.
"Well, what shall I do now?", Aman asked, as he was clueless of what to do next.
"Wait, didn't you call Rahul?", Khushi asked, suddenly remembering Rahul was the business partner.
"Actually Khushi, I tried. But Sir is not answering", Aman said.
"Wait, I will try and call him. Don't worry", Khushi said, trying to calm down Aman.
"Okay, thanks Khushi, I'll hang up then. Bye", Aman said, feeling a little bit relieved.
After ending the call, Khushi dialed Rahul.
"Hello Khushi, What's up?", Rahul asked, in his normally flirty tone.
"Why the hell didn't you answer the damn phone, Rahul? Aman is really worried. There is a emergency situation in the office. He can't call Arnav and here you are ignoring the calls", Khushi said, angrily.
"Oh shit!! I didn't answer, because I didn't want to tell anyone where Arnav was", Rahul said, without thinking what he was saying.
"Oh, so you knew all this time where he was and you didn't bother to tell anyone in his family?", Khushi asked, in an irritated tone.
"Look Khushi, you know how Arnav is. If he wants to stay alone, he means it. He doesn't want anyone to trouble him, when he is alone. And that too especially today. That's why I kept it as a secret", Rahul said, hoping that Khushi would understand the reason for hiding the facts.
"Hmmm... Okay. But can you tell me at least. Since his phone is off, how can we give him any kind of emergency news?", Khushi said.
"No Khushi, I can't", Rahul said, firmly.
"Oh, come on. I'm your Bhabhi, right? Wouldn't you do this much for me? Please?", Khushi said in an innocent, pleading tone.
"Fine and please stop trying to emotionally blackmail me. I will tell you where he is, but don't tell anyone. Promise me", Rahul said.
"I promise. Also please call Aman and try to solve the problem", Khushi said, feeling a little relieved.
After getting the address Khushi was happy, as she knew where Arnav was now. But she felt it wouldn't be right for her to poke her nose in other people's business. And she knew Arnav would blast off in a second, if he saw her at his place. Also she didn't want to lie to the Raizada's, as she couldn't tell them she was going to meet Arnav. So she thought of giving Arnav his time for himself.
Arnav was now lying down in his comfortable sofa in his secret apartment. Yes, that's right. He had bought this private apartment (http://www.900house.com/images/Luxury-Penthouse-Apartment-18-Master-Bedroom-with-Outdoor-View-900x670.jpg), so that he can aloof himself from the outside world whenever he needed sometime alone. The only person who knew about this place was his best friend. He didn't want anyone to know about this place, especially his Di, because she was quite good at invading his personal space. He knew it was wrong, but even he needed to be alone sometimes to keep himself sane. And that too on days like today. With the sudden ring of the door bell, Arnav changed his posture. Since past two days he had not eaten properly and he was feeling weak. So he had ordered pizza. He went towards the door, expecting to see the pizza man in front of him after he opened the door.
Khushi was now standing in front of Arnav's apartment. She didn't know whether she was doing the right thing or not. But Khushi being Khushi couldn't wait without doing nothing as well. She knew Arnav shouldn't be left alone on a day like this. She only wanted to be there with him. She didn't expect any explanations, actions or expressions from him. She just wanted to hold his hand, to show that she will always be with him. She knew he would jump at her like a barking dog, but she was ready to face whatever happened next. So she rang the door bell nervously.
As soon as Arnav opened the door, Arnav froze with shock. Not only himself, he felt as if the whole surrounding and even the time had frozen. After few minutes his mind recovered, and the first question that popped in his mind was how Khushi got to know about his apartment. But before he could ask out the question aloud, Khushi made him surprised by letting out the anger that had been hidden inside her fragile body, in the form of words.
"Who do you think you are? Does anyone vanish into thin air, just like that? How could you? Didn't you at least think how the people that love you would feel?", Khushi went on spitting out the words in one breath while hitting on his chest with her small fists.
"Why do you think I wanted no one to know? That's because I wanted to be alone, dammit. Why the hell did you come here, when you knew that I don't like to be disturbed when I want to be alone? Not only that, you came here, to my private apartment without any invitation? Who do you think you are Khushi? Just because you are my fiancee doesn't mean that you can poke your nose into my life", Arnav said, as he burst out with anger.
Khushi felt really hurt by Arnav's words. Although she wanted to leave at that very moment, something unknown stopped her. And she thought of telling what she came to tell before she left.
"I'm sorry Arnav, I thought I meant more than just the word fiancee for you, but it clearly seems like not. I know what happened in the past and I didn't come here to poke my nose in to your life. I came here today, because you are a part of my life now. But I guess I was wrong. Why do you think I lied to everyone and came here at this time of the day, when the thing I hate the most in my life is hiding the truth from another person? I know that Di and you are both in pain. I also know that you are pain is greater than Di's, because you witnessed your mom's death when you were at a small age. So I can understand if you wanted to be alone today. But I felt sorry for you, because Di at least has the whole family with her today, when you don't have anyone. I know why you wanted to be alone today. It's because if you see either Di or Nani on this day, you would remember your mother's death all over again, and those bitter memories are going to worsen your pain more. So I thought I should be with you, in that way I could silently support you by holding you hand. Because I'm not related to your past. But now I feel that I was wrong. So once again, I'm sorry".
After the last word came out of her mouth only Khushi realized that her eyes were welled up with tears. She knew she couldn't control herself anymore, so she turned around to leave from there. Just as she was about to leave, she felt him holding her wrist.
"Just let me go Arnav", Khushi said, without turning around.
"I'm sorry", Arnav said in a soft and weak tone. As soon as Khushi heard his voice, she realized that he was broken down from inside. She turned around, and that's when she realized Arnav's state.
His eyes were all red, which meant he had been crying without any sleep. He looked fatigued and gloomy. She suddenly felt guilty for what she said. She knew what she said was not wrong, but she also felt that she had said all those stuff at the wrong time.
As soon as Arnav heard what Khushi had said, he realized that he was wrong. He knew she had come for him. And her words hurt him a lot as well, and he knew he had to apologize before it was too late. But he didn't know what to do. He knew "I'm sorry", wasn't the best choice of words at the moment. Yet, it was all he could manage.
Arnav went near Khushi, and cupped her face. He wiped away the tears that had started to roll down her soft cheeks. He didn't know what to say, but he didn't want to lose her. So he thought of trying his best.
"I'm sorry Khushi. I shouldn't have said all those horrible things to you. Do you know why I really wanted to be alone on this day? On this day, not only I remember my mom died because of my dad, I remember all the horrible things that happened after that day because of him. Whenever I see Di, I remember that my dad is the reason that she is still single. She believe that what happened to our mom will happen to her as well. Whenever I see Nani, I remember all those days she used to cry without eating anything. Whenever I see Mama, I remember how he worked overtime to provide for us. Whenever I see Mami, I remember how she used to sell her jewellery to pay our school fees. Whenever I see Akash, I remember how hard he tried to bare my anger. Our lives changed after that day Khushi, and all this happened because of my so called Dad. I hate him Khushi, I hate him. I don't know how I survived all this time, but I know that I lived to take care of my Di and the others. From that day onwards I realized I had to be strong for my family and become an independent person. First thing I did was change my surname to Raizada from Mallik. Then I did my studies, while working part time at my Mama's office. I buried my past and somehow moved forward. And that's what made me who I am today. But every year on this day, I remember what that man did, whenever I see my loved ones. And it hurts a lot. So I keep myself aloof from the rest of the world. I'm sorry Khushi. I didn't mean to say all that. Those words came out, because I was burning from inside due to the fire of anger", Arnav said, while breaking down with tears.
Khushi couldn't believe her ears, after what she heard. When he was supposed to worry about himself, instead he was worrying about the others. Khushi's anger faded away just like a cloud. She made Arnav sit down on the sofa and she sat beside her. She held his hand on hers and continued to speak.
"I didn't know that you were hiding so much of pain inside by yourself Arnav, and that too by thinking about how to make your loved ones happy without showing the extent to which you were hurt. I know you don't want to share it with others, but now I am here. I'm not from your past, I'm your present and future. I want you to share everything with me. Happiness, sorrow, anger, anything. If you don't want to talk, it's fine. Just at least let me be with you. I will always support you silently, if that's what you want. And I think it's time to move along with your past Arnav. Don't try to bury it. Because the more you try to bury it, the more it becomes recovered. You can't let that one man, affect your life. I'm not going to say that you should attend your mom's death anniversary. But whenever your ready to attend her death anniversary, may it be next year, or ten years from now, I will be there, right beside you. And even if you don't wish to attend her death anniversary, I will still be here with you. And I know your mom won't mind you not attending, because I'm sure she is proud to have a son like you, who thinks about the others before thinking about his own".
Arnav felt as if a big burden was relieved from his head. He felt that his heavy heart was now light. Before he could utter anything, the door bell rang again.
"It must be the pizza guy. I'll check", Arnav said, while standing up.
Khushi stopped him and gestured that she would check. Khushi received the pizza and came back. She realized that he hadn't eaten properly for two days. So she told him to eat. But he denied to eat if she didn't share it with him. So both of them ate quietly. After having dinner, Khushi realized that it was time for her to leave, as the time was 8pm.
"Arnav I should go", Khushi said, in a soft tone.
Arnav couldn't bare the thought of staying alone today. He knew Khushi had to leave, but he didn't want her to. He suddenly pulled Khushi for a warm hug. Khushi knew that Arnav was different from the other days. She had always seen a strong Arnav. Even on the day he revealed about Sheetal, he was not this weak. But today he was weak. So Khushi hugged him back with equal warmth, hoping it could strengthen him more.
"Don't go", Arnav said softly, hoping that she would stay.
Khushi was surprised at his words. She didn't want to go, but it would be not good for her name. A girl staying alone with her fiance before marriage at an apartment would be the best scandal the reporters could get hold of. And that too specially when she was the adopted daughter of one of the country's top lawyers, and the guy being non other than the great Arnav Singh Raizada. This would be in news on every channel. But she remembered what her mother had said. "Always take your decisions after listening to your heart, but act according to your mind". So she thought of staying with Arnav.
"I will inform home", Khushi said, while stepping out from the hug.
Khushi called home and informed Lavanya that she was staying at Payal's place, as Payal was not feeling alright. For Khushi's luck, Lavanya had bought her lie. Although Khushi felt guilty, she made up her my mind, as she knew she was doing the right thing.
She saw that Arnav had already made himself comfortable on the bed. She slowly walked towards the bed and when she came near she felt his hand grip from her wrist. Arnav softly pulled her towards the bed and with a gasp she landed beside him. He made her rest her head on the pillow beside his, and she felt as she was in heaven right now, because it was overall a very tiresome day. Both were staring at each others eyes, and  Khushi was now confident that Arnav was ready to move forward along with his past. There eyes spoke volumes, that they conveyed what both of them were feeling towards each other right now. And that was pure love. Arnav placed a feathery kiss on her head and then on her cheeks. Khushi closed her eyes when she felt his lips touch her soft skin and snuggled more towards him. They didn't know when sleep took over their tired bodies. But today, after 13 years, Arnav felt himself being blissed by the most wonderful sleep, with his angel cuddled beside him.

Will both the families get to know about Arnav and Khushi spending the night together?

Chapter 25 - Secrets from the Past

In the office although Khushi had tried her best to concentrate on work, it was useless. She really wanted to know what Arnav and Anjali were upset about. While driving she wondered from whom she should ask about this matter, as she knew Arnav wouldn't talk to her. It was around 6pm when Khushi finally reached home. As soon as she entered the house, she was surprised by the voice she heard from the living room. It was Nani. She felt that this was not a coincidence, but an opportunity given by god. She went to the living room and took blessings from Nani. Khushi was a little worried as Lavanya was there as well.
"Nani, how come you are here?", Khushi asked in a surprised tone.
"Well, I wanted to go to the Mandir. Day after tomorrow there is a pooja at our place and Anjali had to go to the town to buy some stuff needed for the pooja. So she dropped me at the Mandir and said that she would pick me up from there. But luckily I met Lavanya at the Mandir. So she asked me to come here, until Anjali finishes her shopping list", Nani explained.
Khushi was surprised to know that Lavanya had visited the Mandir, because she rarely goes there. But these days Lavanya seemed to be giving loads of surprises for her, so she thought of concentrating about what she wanted to know.
"By the way Nani, what is the pooja for?", Khushi asked curiously, thinking it had something to do with Arnav's mood.
"Oh, didn't Arnav tell you. You should come too. It's Arnav's mother's death anniversary", Nani said, a little sadly.
Khushi was shocked to hear this. "How come Arnav never mentioned something so important?", Khushi thought to herself. Khushi then thought may be this was the reason why both the brother-sister duo were upset. Although she wanted to tell Nani about what happened in the office, she couldn't, as Lavanya was with them. Suddenly Lavanya's phone rang and she went outside to answer the phone, excusing herself.
"Nani, I want to ask you something, only if it is alright?", Khushi said a little nervously.
"Of course Khushi Beta. What is it?", Nani said, with a smile.
Before Khushi could continue, Lavanya came back.
"Nani, I have to go out to meet a friend. Is it alright if I left?", Lavanya asked politely.
"Of course, no problem. I will spend some time with Khushi Beta", Nani said.
"Ok then. I will meet you at the pooja", Lavanya said. Then she took blessings from Nani, and left while saying good bye to Khushi.
Khushi was now feeling relaxed, as there was no one else to disturb her conversation with Nani.
"Khushi Beta, what did you want to ask?", Nani asked.
"Actually Nani, today in the morning Anjali Di came to the office to meet Arnav. After that, she left the office sadly. So I went to meet Arnav and he was not in a good mood as well. When I asked what happened, he just ignored me and left the office, saying that he was not well. Now when you said that Arnav's mom's death anniversary would be day after tomorrow, I was wondering whether this was the reason for them to be upset?", Khushi said, hoping that Nani would clear her doubts.
"Beta, it is a long story. Well, I haven't talked about my daughter's death for a long time. But since you are now going to become family, I guess you should know what happened in the past", Nani said thoughtfully.
Khushi was now not sure whether she was doing the right thing by trying to find out the truth. So she said, "No Nani, it's fine. Past is the past. And I know it must be difficult for you to talk about your only daughter's death. So just forget that I asked".
"It's alright darling. I want you to know, since you are going to become Chottey's wife. My daughter, Amrita was in love with a guy when she was in her early twenties. Then after two years, the guy broke the affair. She was blinded by love at that time, that she was not ready to accept the reality. She became weak both physically and mentally. We were feeling sorry for her, but we couldn't make her feel better at all. Time passed by, and one year after the break up, Amrita got a proposal. This was Arnav's dad, Rajesh. At first my daughter was not comfortable about this, but Rajesh somehow managed to win her over. The day Amrita agreed to marry Rajesh, we felt as if god had listened to us finally. Time passed by and Amrita finally fell in love again with Rajesh. We didn't know how to thank Rajesh, because he saved a person who was on the verge of drowning. Later we gave our daughter's hand to him, and they were leading a happy married life. Two years after the marriage, Amrita and Rajesh were blessed with a child. This was one of the happiest days in our lives. But one person was not happy, and that was Rajesh. The reason for it was, he wanted his first born to be a boy, but unfortunately it was a girl. And he was not happy about it at all. My daughter tried her very best to make him accept Anjali, but her efforts were useless. At first they exchanged words of disagreement, but later, they became huge arguments", Nani continued the story in a depressed tone.
"Two years after Anjali's was born, my daughter gave birth to a baby boy, and that was Arnav. Finally Rajesh was satisfied and he loved Arnav a lot. He changed himself to a good father and a good husband. This period was like a rainy season after a drought. Everything was going well in their lives. Rajesh finally managed to accept Anjali as well. They were a one small happy family. Everybody thought nothing could go wrong, and that's when bad luck stroke again. One Sunday I visited my daughter's house, and I was talking with Chottey. Anjali was out at a friend's place. Suddenly we both heard the fight that was taking place between Amrita and Rajesh. The words that exchanged between both of them were clearly heard, and the words we heard stabbed both our hearts. That's when we both realized the bitter truth about Rajesh. He was having an affair with another woman, and he had been hiding it from all of us for two years. And on that day he was asking for a divorce from my daughter. Arnav being the short tempered person, ran towards the room to confront his dad. But that's when we realized it was too late. My daughter had got a heart attack due to the shocking news and at that very moment she left us . From that day onwards Arnav hated his dad and so did Anjali. Rajesh is now living with that woman in USA, and he doesn't seem to be sorry at all for his actions. Since the day Amrita died, Chottey never attended the death anniversaries and we think that it's because he don't want to remember that day. I'm fine with it, because he was a child at that time. And I know how he must have felt when he saw his mother dying in front of his eyes when he was 14. But Anjali tries to make him attend the pooja. I always try to make her understand, but it's useless. She can't understand what Chottey is feeling, as she was not there when it happened. Every time on this day of the year, Arnav somehow stays out of the house and both siblings don't talk to each other on this day", Nani said, while wiping away her tears.
Khushi was feeling really sorry for the old woman in front of her right now and at the same time she felt much more respect towards her, because she felt that Nani had somehow managed to raise her grandchildren in to two wonderful personalities a midst her daughter's loss.
That night before Khushi went to sleep she wanted to talk to Arnav, but she couldn't contact him. He was not at home and nor had he called her. When she dialed his phone, it straight away went to voice mail. She didn't panic, as Nani had said that this was a usual thing during this time of every year. Before Khushi entered the dream world, she thought how Arnav had faced so many difficulties at a very young age, and yet he had managed to become one of the powerful and great personalities she had ever seen. But she wanted Arnav to accept the past and move forward along with the bitter truth, without trying to bury it.

Where is Arnav? Will Arnav listen to Khushi? Will Arnav attend his mother's death anniversary?

Chapter 24 - Secrets & Romance

Khushi was now feeling really nervous, and she felt the sudden change in her breathing rate. She was feeling all kinds of mixed emotions by now. Although she wanted to resist, yet she didn't couldn't. She wanted to give a chance for the new feelings she were feeling right now.
Arnav couldn't stop getting drowned in the ocean of beauty in front of him. She was surely one of a kind. She had dressed herself in a deep purple knee length dress(http://cdni.condenast.co.uk/426x639/o_r/office-wear-34_el_23jan12_b_426x639.jpg), and the choice of colour was excellent, as it brought about her fair complexion perfectly. She had worn a simple pair of silver earrings(http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=I.4826727979352999&pid=15.1) to go with her attire. Arnav's eyes then stopped at the letter "A" pendant that was gifted by him. He was glad to see the gold pendant adorning her neck, although it didn't match with the other jewellery she had worn. He was feeling as if he was the luckiest guy in the whole world to meet a girl like Khushi, and he wanted to express his love towards her today. He looked at Khushi's face and realized that she had the world's amazing angelic face. She looked so innocent, that her face was now blushing due to the close encounter they were sharing right now.
Arnav leaned his head towards Khushi's neck and placed a soft kiss on the pendant, hoping to make Khushi realize how much it meant for him, seeing her wearing his gift every time. He then continued to trail soft kisses along her neck, while Khushi gave in to this new sensation by arching her neck to one side, giving full access to Arnav. Khushi had closed her eyes, as she was becoming tempted with each kiss Arnav was placing on her soft skin. She held Arnav's shirt tightly, as she was feeling weak. By now she knew her resistance level was zero, and she was confident that any second from now, she would start to express herself as well. Arnav continued the soft kisses along her jaw line, then on her eyes and finally on her forehead. He felt as he was in heaven right now, and he knew he wanted to taste her soft lips. As soon as Khushi felt Arnav's sweet assaults stop, she opened her eyes, and she realized what Arnav's next move would be. She slowly snaked her arms around his neck and brought his head more towards her. Arnav didn't want to waste any more time, so he gently kissed her lips and after few seconds they were lost in each others taste, as both their tongues were now enjoying each others own unique sweetness.
At the end of their passionate kissing session, both Arnav and Khushi were lost in their own world. They have forgotten where they were and what they were supposed to do. Both were able to successfully express how much they loved each other through their first kiss.
"I think I will have to find a new assistant designer as well", Arnav said, while smirking at Khushi. Khushi was still on Arnav's lap, and was resting her head on his chest.
"Why?", Khushi asked, as she was surprised by what Arnav said.
"Because whose going to finish the designs on time, if you keep on spending your time on my lap?", Arnav said, in a teasing tone.
"Sorry, I will leave now", Khushi said, with a small pout on her face.
Arnav was more attracted after seeing how childish Khushi looked right now.
"I was kidding. I won't mind if they are delayed, and that's why I said we should find a new assistant for you", Arnav said with a wink.
Khushi chuckled a bit and hid her face on his chest because she was feeling shy, as she was all new to these kinds of conversations.
A sudden knock on the door, brought them back to the real world. Khushi got down from Arnav's lap and was about to leave, when Arnav held her wrist and nodded his head, indicating Khushi to not to leave. Khushi after seeing Arnav's gesture, smiled and said she would stay.
"Come in", Arnav said.
"Arre Chottey, what took you so long to invite me in", Anjali came in, while complaining angrily. Anjali was suddenly surprised to see Khushi in the cabin, and then she realized what was the delay about, as she saw the slight blush on Khushi's cheeks.
"Oh!!! Now I see, why you took such a long time", Anjali said, in a teasing tone.
"Stop it Di. It only took few seconds. Anyway, good that you came. Khushi will be our new designer. So we were discussing about some designs", Arnav said, seriously.
"Wow. That's great. Now you both can get to know about each other more", Anjali said.
"By the way Di, why did you come to the office? I mean anything important?", Arnav asked thoughtfully.
"Actually, I wanted to talk to you Chottey", Anjali said, feeling a little uncomfortable.
Khushi understood that both brother-sister duo wanted some time alone, so she excused herself and left the cabin.
"What's up Di?", Arnav asked.
"Day after tomorrow it's mom's death anniversary Chottey", Anjali said,  in a depressed tone.
Since Arnav's mother's death, Arnav had never been home during any of her death anniversaries. He either kept himself busy at the office or left the country. And this always disappointed Anjali. But she never gave up trying, hoping that he would change his mind and attend the death anniversary.
"I'm sorry Di, but I can't attend it. You can perform the pooja, but I will stay out of the house", Arnav said, feeling upset suddenly.
Anjali knew there was no use in trying anymore. So she said it was alright and left sadly. Arnav knew that it was wrong to make his Di disappointed, but he didn't know what else he had to do to make her understand what he was feeling right now.
Khushi was chatting with another employee, when she saw Anjali leaving the office in a sad mood. She felt sorry for her, and thought of talking to Arnav.
When Khushi entered Arnav's cabin, she realized that the brother's mood was the same as his sister's.
"Arnav? What happened? Why was Di looking upset? And why are you feeling down?", Khushi asked worriedly, hoping Arnav would give an answer. But her effort was useless.
Arnav stood up and came towards Khushi and said, "Khushi, I'm not feeling alright. I think I need some rest. Sorry, but I gotta go. I will meet you tomorrow". He placed a kiss on her forehead, and left as fast as possible.
Khushi was now hundred percent sure that Arnav was hiding something from her. She knew it was a family problem, so she felt that it would be rude to poke her nose in to this. But, she didn't want to see Arnav or Anjali Di worried. So in order to find out the truth, she thought of talking to someone. But right now she had a responsibility towards her job. So she made up her mind to talk to someone in the Raizada family later. Rest of the day she kept herself busy, while giving value to blank papers by sketching wonderful designs with lots of colours.

To whom will Khushi talk, in order to get to know the truth? What is the secret hidden behind Arnav's mother's death?
