Chapter 15

Chapter 15 - Bonds

Khushi quickly wiped her tears and put a smile on her face. She turned around and said "Sorry Anjali ji, it was my fault. I got late".
Arnav was amazed to see Khushi successfully managing the situation, without any difficulty.
"It's alright Khushi. And please stop calling me Anjali ji, you can call me Di", said Anjali with a sweet smile on her face.
Arnav was happy to see how easily the two women had started to bond with each other. On the other hand, Lavanya was fuming as things didn't happen according to the way she expected. But she knew she wouldn't be able to be successful on her first step. Anyway she was glad that she had won Anjali over.
All four of them spent the rest of the day shopping and they enjoyed it a lot. Although Arnav didn't like shopping much, he didn't make a fuss either. He helped by carrying the bags for his Di, because he realized that after all, his Di was doing all this for him.
It was around 4pm and they had finished shopping by now. They were at the parking lot, ready to bid good bye to each other. Suddenly Arnav got a call from his office. After answering the call, he turned towards the three women and said in an apologetic tone, "Di, there is an emergency situation in the office and I have to go now.  Lavanya, can you drop Di, if it is okay with you?"
"Uffo Arnav, is this something to ask even? Of course, no problem. Even I will get to meet Akash and Arush as well. Come on, lets go Di", Lavanya said happily. She was glad that Arnav trusted her over Khushi.
Arnav thanked Lavanya and said good bye to all three of them and left the place.
Khushi was a little disappointed with what happened. Didn't Arnav trust her to take care of his Di? Maybe he considered Lavanya as a more responsible person than she is. She kept all the weird thoughts aside and got in the car. Just as she was about to start the car, she heard a message alert tone in her phone. She took her phone and checked the sender's name. It said "Arnav". A small smile appeared in the corner of her face. She opened the message quickly and read it.
Arnav was driving towards his office and remembered what had happened in the mall. He knew Khushi was hurt a lot. And he didn't want Rahul to keep on blaming Khushi for everything. Arnav also knew that something was cooking in Lavanya's mind, but he knew that it was too early to figure out what it is. Arnav had seen pain in Khushi's eyes every time Lavanya blames her for nothing. And when Rahul had wrongly accused Khushi for no reason today, he had seen the same pain in those innocent eyes. He didn't know why, but he couldn't bear it any longer as well. So he texted Khushi, saying that he would pick her up after his meeting at around 7pm.
Khushi was totally confused after reading Arnav's message. Why would he want to pick me up? She was totally lost as she didn't know where he was going to take her and what he wanted to say? Was he going to blame her as well? She didn't have a single clue of what was about to happen, but she was Khushi Gupta and she knew whatever happened, she was ready to face it.
Khushi freshened up and was ready by 6.50pm. She was wearing a pink coloured top and blue denim jeans. Her hair was done in a ponytail and she was quite the charmer. She came downstairs and was about to leave. She searched for Chachu or Chachi, but they were not to be seen. So she informed Rama that she was going out and told her that she would get late. She heard the horn of Arnav's car so she ran out of the house, saying good bye to Rama.
When she came out she saw Arnav's car was parked outside(http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=I.4529911407641174&pid=15.1). The car was able to well define the man inside. She smiled to herself and sat on the passenger seat. She was a little nervous, but was calmed down by the smile on Arnav's face.
"Hi", Arnav said.
"Hi. Why did you want to meet me now? I mean we were together the whole day, right?", Khushi said with curiosity.
"Actually there is something I have to do for you. Also thank you for not telling Di about what happened between Rahul and you. She would have panicked and I would have had to deal with it", Arnav said smiling.
"No problem. You don't have to say thank you, she is my Di as well. Remember what I said. I want to see others smile because of me, not worried. And Rahul has a problem with me, not you all. It's fine if he hates me. I did what I thought was right", Khushi said confidently.
"But where are we going Arnav?", Khushi asked.
"Wait and watch", Arnav said calmly.
They stopped the car in front of a house. Arnav got down from the car and helped Khushi get down as well. Then both of them went together towards the house. Arnav rang the bell. He saw the questioning look on Khushi's face. He just nodded and told her to calm down.
The door was opened  and Khushi was surprised to see the person standing in front of her. It was Rahul.
"Arnav!!!!!!!!!!", Rahul said with utter shock.
"Come in", he said.
Both Khushi and Arnav went inside.
"Rahul, I didn't come here today as your friend. All these days, when there was an argument between Khushi and you, I took your side. Because at that time you were my friend and she was the employee. So you were my priority. But now things have changed. She is my fiancee and she is my priority. That doesn't mean I have forgotten that your my friend. But the way you talked to her today was rude. Just because she declined you as her boyfriend doesn't give you the right to say such harsh things to her. She might have been adopted, but I surely know she doesn't run after money. So without getting to know the person, stop accusing her for something she hadn't done", Arnav said in a rough tone.
Khushi couldn't believe what she was hearing. Arnav was once again taking her side. She felt a little proud, but she didn't want to see the bond between the two friends ruined as well. So she thought of stopping Arnav.
"Arnav, it's fine. It was just a mistake. You don't have to blame Rahul for that. He was just trying to protect you. Be your friend", Khushi said.
"But first he should see stuff from a fresh mind. And that's the difference between him and me . If I thought in the same way as he did, today I would have blamed you, right? Then I would have done the wrong thing as well. So stop trying to be nice Khushi. I'm doing this because I'm his friend. I don't want to loose you Rahul. I want you to clear your doubts. Khushi and I are getting married to make our families happy. She doesn't love me and she knows that I won't love her as well. But she is sacrificing her life for both our families happiness. So try to understand. Because if you can't, you better stay out of this", Arnav said with a little bit of anger.
"Is that all Arnav. Have you said all what you came to say. Wow, dude. Did she cast a spell on you? The person who said that he didn't want to marry since four years, is now ready to get married? I find this quite intriguing. But if you are not ready to believe me, then fine. This friendship is over. Don't tell later that I didn't warn you. You are going to regret your decision one day", Rahul said  firmly to Arnav.
Khushi didn't know what she had to say, but she was really upset. She didn't want Arnav to lose his best friend because of her. But she was speechless.
"Okay then, this is a good bye, I guess. Remember I still respect our friendship. I know what I'm doing is right. And I know you too. You will realize your fault one day and that day you will come back to me. I will be waiting for that day, my friend. Also I'm Arnav Singh Raizada and I don't take decisions that I will regret, at least not anymore", Arnav said what he had to say. He took Khushi's hand and left Rahul's place.
After sometime Arnav and Khushi were sitting in a park. Khushi was really upset for what happened before and she could see Arnav was upset as well. The whole surrounding was calm and peaceful. But the rabbit on the moon was smiling, seeing the couple who have come a long way since their first meeting. Stars were twinkling, as if they were smiling with joy. Khushi couldn't take the silence any longer, so she thought of breaking it.
"I'm really sorry Arnav", Khushi said.
Arnav looked at the angelic face and saw that her eyes were welled up with tears.
"Hey, hey!!! Why are you saying sorry. If he can't accept the fact that you are going to become a part of my life, then it's his problem. Not mine or yours. Why are you wasting your tears on him", Arnav said trying to make Khushi feel better. But it didn't seem to work out.
"Look at you. Never in my dreams did I think I will have to marry a tear tap", Arnav said with a smirk.
Khushi laughed a little. She had never seen this side of Arnav. The caring, nice, cheerful Arnav.
"That's my girl. Come on!!!!!!! Your name is Khushi. It doesn't mean that you only make others smile. It also means that you should smile as well", Arnav said with a smile on his face.
Khushi wiped her tears and awarded Arnav with the best smile she could give.
Her smile not only brightened his soul, it was able to brighten the whole surrounding that was dark right now.
"Tell me one thing Arnav. How do you believe that I'm not lying to you? I mean how do you trust me over your best friend?", Khushi asked as she was eager to know how he acted so reasonably.
"I know when a person is lying and telling the truth. How do you think I gained this success in such a young age? If I didn't know to read people, I would still be a struggling businessman", Arnav said proudly.
"Hmmm... I guess you are right", Khushi said.
"Arnav, I need to ask you something", Khushi said a little nervously.
"Oh yeah? And what's that?", Arnav said in a cool tone.
"I know you don't talk much about your personal life. But I need to know this. Why have love become an unwanted desire for you? I mean what happened four years ago?", Khushi asked, as she wanted to know what happened in his past.
Arnav felt his blood warming up and he could feel his temper rising.
"That's none of you business Khushi. Let's go. It's late", saying this, Arnav stood up and got ready to leave.

"It's my business now Arnav, since I'm about to become your wife. If you don't want to talk about it now, it's fine. But remember the more you try to ignore your feelings, the more you will suffer. Look at me. I'm suffering from inside because I can't tell how much I'm hurt from every single word Lavanya say to me. Not only Lavanya, but the way Chachu and Chachi treat me just like an adopted kid, really hurts me. But I'm trying to hide my feelings because I respect them for providing me with a roof to live. I know that your hiding your feelings from the outside world as well. Not only that, I know the only person you trust the most with these stuff is Anjali Di. But since you don't want to become a burden for her every time, you try to keep your emotions inside. But now you have me. So you don't have to trouble your Di all the time. You can share your feelings with me as well. Remember when ever you need me, I will be there for you", Khushi said, as she wanted Arnav to open up to her,
Khushi didn't know whether it was the right time for her to say all this, but she didn't want Arnav to go through all the pain by himself. She saw him turn around. He was now taking slow steps towards her. She felt a little shiver as she was feeling nervous of what would happen next.
Will Arnav scold Khushi or will he open up to her? If he opens up to her, what happened to him in the past? Will Lavanya and the rest of Gupta family be happy to see Khushi coming home so late? Will they blame Khushi as well?

Chapter 14

Chapter 14 - Simple Gestures

"Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this true Chotte? I mean I'm not day dreaming, right?", Anjali asked with joy as she couldn't believed that her Chotte was ready to get married.
"Yeah Di. And I'm sorry for the way I behaved before", Arnav said, trying to be apologetic for the way he blasted out in anger towards his Di.
"Uffo Chotte, I will forgive you for every wrong doing you have done in this lifetime. This was the best apology ever", Anjali said in a teasing manner.
"Ha Chotte, Anjali's right. Thank you for making your Di, the happiest human being on earth", Nani said with a smile on her face.
"Well, well, it's time to party. I mean we have to get ready for both the marriages, right?", said Mami in a cheerful voice.
"Yeah, we will talk to the pandit tomorrow and fix a date for the engagement", Nani said.
After a long time the whole Raizada house was full of joy. They were so excited in planning the weddings of their two grandsons. Arnav and Akash were blessed by every adult in the family. Both of them thought that they must have been the luckiest people on earth to be blessed by such a wonderful family. And both of them would do anything to keep this family, happy forever.
After talking to the Pandit, the engagement was planned to be held after two weeks. But since there was no auspicious time near by, it was decided that the wedding would take place four months after the engagement.
There was only one week left for the engagement, and Anjali wanted to take her two Babhi's for shopping. Although Arnav and Akash were both busy, they knew one of them would have to accompany their Di, as she would feel hurt. So Arnav agreed to go for shopping. Anjali was overjoyed. She really didn't expect her Chotte to be so thoughtful. So Anjali had called the Gupta's and asked their daughters to join her in the shopping mall. They have agreed, as they were so happy to see things turning around in their favour. When Arnav and Anjali entered the mall, they saw that Lavanya had arrived early. When Lavanya saw Arnav, she was thrilled. But she didn't show it much as it would not help to carry out her plan. Lavanya was dressed in a short maroon dress, which as usual enhanced the gorgeous curves of her figure.
"Hi Di!!!!!!!!! I hope you wouldn't mind if I call you Di", Lavanya greeted Anjali hoping that she would be able to win her heart.
"Of course, why not?", said Anjali, while giving her a welcome hug. Arnav was surprised by Lavanya's behaviour, trying to be all cozy with his sister on their second meeting, but he kept his thoughts aside and felt someone was missing.
"Hey Arnav!!!!!!!!!", said Lavanya, trying to get Arnav's attention, as she knew whom his eyes were searching for.
"Hi Lavanya, where is Khushi?", Arnav asked curiously.
"Arre wah, My brother has already started to be the possessive boyfriend type? NIce", Anjali said teasingly.
Although Lavanya hated to join Anjali on this teasing venture, she had to.
"Yeah, seems like Khushi would be dead when she comes. Actually she had to meet Payal, so she said that she will come soon after meeting her", Lavanya said
"Di where is Akash?", Lavanya asked showing as if she was interested.
"Well, you future hubby was a little busy. So he said he will come next time", Anjali explained.
"Oh okay. Di why don't we start shopping. Because else you guys will get late. Khushi will join us when she comes", Lavanya said, as she knew by now Arnav's anger must have increased, due to the late arrival of Khushi. Lavanya felt thrilled as she was successful in her plan of impressing Anjali. When she got to know Khushi would get late, she thought of arriving early, so that she could impress both Anjali and Arnav.
"Yeah Di. She is right. Why don't you both start shopping. When Khushi arrives, we both will join you two", Arnav said. When Lavanya heard what Arnav said, she felt a little worried, but she made up her mind.
"Ok Chotte. Then you come with Khushi after she arrives", Anjali said.
Lavanya and Anjali waved a bye at Arnav and went towards the shops.
It had been 20 minutes and Khushi was no where to be seen. He couldn't imagine how she could be so late. Although his anger had risen a little bit within him, he didn't want to give the wrong impression to Khushi this time. Because every time he would let anger dominate him, it would result in a fight between them. So he tried to be patient. "Which idiot said patience is bliss", he thought to himself. It was nearly 30 minutes by  now and he couldn't wait anymore. "Damn my patience", he said and dialed Khushi's number.
As soon as he dialed, he heard a soft voice answer, "Hello Arnav".
"Where the hell are you dammit? I have been waiting here for 30 minutes", Arnav barked to the phone.
"Look, I'm in front of you", answered Khushi in a cool tone, hoping that Arnav would cool down as well.
Arnav shifted his head up a little bit and his eyes stopped at the beauty in front of him. Was this the girl he was about to marry? True, he had seen her many times. But every time he saw her she looked beautiful in a different way. She was wearing a multi-green coloured halter neck dress(http://www.milaneze.com/illustr/goodphotos/mediumimages/50707.jpg) and her hair was left open and her shoulders were covered by her hair. She looked like a Greek goddess. As she came near him, he started to observe her carefully from top to bottom. Her eyes were hazel coloured and if you concentrated on them for few minutes, anyone would be hypnotized. Her cheeks glowed just like a living rose. Her small, curved lips were like rosebuds peeping out of snow. She had a small smile playing on her face. Her ears were adorned by a simple pair of green earrings(http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=I.4671877244977808&pid=15.1). As his eyes traveled down, he was amazed by her swan like neck and the fairness her neck was contrasted by the simple necklace and pendant(http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=I.4601697433026749&pid=15.1) that she had worn. He was lost in her beauty, until the snap of her fingers in front of his eyes, broke the trance.
"Where were you all lost?", Khushi asked in a cheerful mood.
"That's not your problem. Why were you late?", Arnav asked, in a rough tone.
"That's it? I thought you would jump at me as soon as I stood in front of you. Well, at least that's what I felt according to the way you barked at me on the phone. But now you are all lost. Well, Look I'm sorry...", she couldn't continue as he started to speak.
"I know you are sorry. Since you have already wasted 40 minutes of precious time, why don't we go and find my sister", he said.
"I'm sorry. Let's go", she said playing a smile on her face. Her smile was like the glowing sunshine. It could brighten up the day of anyone. He really liked her smile. He felt it was one of her best features. They walked towards the shops.
Khushi felt different today. All this time he had been her boss, nothing mutual. But today he was her fiance-to-be. She felt different. She felt there were a lot, she didn't know about him. And this silence wouldn't help her to uncover the things she wanted to know about his life. Khushi couldn't bear the silence anymore. So she started without any hesitation.
"You know, today I went to meet Payal. And guess what, she had got a proposal", Khushi said with excitement.
Arnav couldn't believe that she had started to blabber without any hesitation. She was totally different than the Khushi he had met in the office. She was all professional and reserved. But this Khushi was all joyful, lively, bubbly and chirpy. He felt there were a lot of things that he should know about her as well. So he thought of giving it a chance by continuing the conversation.
"Yeah Lavanya told that you went to meet Payal", he said normally.
"But you didn't know that she had got a proposal, right", Khushi questioned enthusiastically.
"Oh come on, how can I know about you friend's personal life? She is not my fiancee", Arnav said sarcastically.
"Oh yeah, sorry. Anyway do you at least know who the guy is?", Khushi said, hoping that he would answer.
Arnav couldn't believe this girl. Was she out of her mind? How can he know who Payal was being proposed to?
"Okay. Stop asking stupid questions. How can I know about the guy?", Arnav said firmly.
"Seriously, you didn't know that your personal assistant was going to propose to your fashion designer? What kind of a boss are you?", Khushi asked with surprise. By now they had stopped walking, and they were lost in their own world. They had forgotten why they were there. Both of them found this conversation more interesting, than shopping.
"Firstly, I don't pry into others personal lives and secondly I don't care about the others, except my family memebers", Arnav said trying to be serious.
"What the... Hey, I'm not prying okay. Unlike you, I'm friendly with the others. I got to know this because Payal told me", Khushi said with a little anger.
"Watch your tone Khushi. You know I don't like people talking to me like that. I'm your boss", said Arnav roughly.
"You should have thought about that before you agreed to marry me. Did you forget that your not my boss anymore. You are my fiance and I'm your fiancee, not the employee. So you can't just order around", Khushi said without thinking. But once she stopped, she realized what she had said. She felt a little shy and she looked down as she could feel that she was blushing.
Arnav was taken in by surprise by what Khushi said. He saw that she had spit out the words without thinking. And now she was blushing? She was really innocent. So he thought of lightening the air for her and said, "Are you kidding me? Aman proposed to Payal? I mean the guy who barely speaks in the office, had the strength to propose to a girl? Wow, you gave me the news of the day", Arnav said laughing.
Khushi looked up and saw Arnav laughing. This was the first time she saw him laughing and she was shocked. She was actually successful in making the most gloomy person in the world laugh. Her heart skipped a beat seeing him laugh. The smile reached his molten brown eyes and sparkled like the sea when first lighted up by the rays of the sun. She felt really good, and said, "I know, Aman barely speaks with me even. Even I was shocked when she told me this. But I'm glad for her, he is a nice guy.", she said smiling. They were really enjoying each others company and they forgot that they were supposed to meet their Di. Sudden ring on Arnav's phone reminded him that it must be his sister.
"Shit, must be Di", saying that, he answered the phone.
"Sorry Di, we are on our way", Arnav said and hung up.
Arnav and Khushi were about to go in search of Anjali, but the call of Arnav's name from behind stopped them. Both Khushi and Arnav recognized the voice, it was Rahul. They turned around and smiled at him.
"Hey Rahul, what are you doing here buddy?", Arnav asked Rahul, hoping to reduce the tension that has started to surround them.
"Well, well, what have we got here? The newly, about to be engaged couple. You know when your Di called and invited me I was surprised. Because two weeks before your Di gave me the news, Khushi rejected me. And if I remember right, she said that she didn't want any guy in her life, right now or something like that. At that time I thought may be she was telling the truth. But as soon as I heard the news, I realized she was lying and Lavanya was right. She wanted you. And that's why she declined my proposal. I don't know whether she wants your money or whether she loves you or whatever, I don't trust her", continued Rahul sarcastically.
"Look Rahul...", Arnav started to speak, but was cut off by Rahul.
"I don't need any explanations. You don't have to feel guilty. It's not your fault. I still consider you as my friend and I will be with you in every occasion. All I want to say is be careful dude. Remember what happened last time when you trusted a girl? Don't do that mistake again", Rahul said in a firm, cheeky tone.
Arnav's temper was rising again. Khushi felt that Arnav was about to explode, but she didn't want to create a rift between the two best friends. So she touched Arnav's palm and squeezed his hand. He was amazed by this sudden gesture of Khushi and they shared an eye lock. They were again disturbed by Rahul, who couldn't bear the sight of the girl in front of him.
"Well congratulations to you two!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gotta go. I don't want to waste your precious time. But remember Khushi, don't break my friend's heart. If you do so, I will be the biggest problem in your life", said Rahul in a threatening tone and left from there.
Arnav couldn't believe what was wrong with his friend. He never thought that Rahul would become so desperate and act in such a way. He turned towards Khushi and he saw the tears that had started to descend down her angelic face like a broken necklace of pearls. He cupped her face, wiped the tears off and nodded his head, gesturing her not to cry. Khushi was touched by Arnav's sudden gesture and she felt as if all her sorrows were gone.
"Chotte!!!!!!!! Khushi!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are you both doing here??????", both Arnav and Khushi heard the voice of an angry Anjali from behind.
Will Anjali get to know about what happened between Rahul and Khushi? Will Arnav meet Rahul and blame Rahul for the way he talked to Khushi? Will Arnav try to console Khushi?

Chapter 13

Chapter 13 - Forgivable Mistakes

Arnav was lying down and resting his head on the pillow. He couldn't imagine that his sister took such a drastic decision without telling him. He felt as if his whole body was burning out of anger, but then he suddenly remembered the answer from Khushi's side. Did she actually agree to marry him? Was she joking? She denied to accept the job as she wanted freedom, but now she was ready to give up her freedom by marrying him? He couldn't understand what this girl was up to, but he had to clear the doubts. He was about to dial Khushi's number, but was stopped by the knock on the door.
"Chotte, may I come in?", asked Anjali in a sweet tone.
By now, Arnav was a little calmed down, so he told his sister to come in.
Anjali came in with a smile and sat down on his bed. He changed his posture and sat down as well. Anjali felt that her brother had calmed down by now, so she thought of talking to him.
"Look Chotte, I know it was not right for me to take a decision about your life without asking from you. But as I said before, I was all excited when I saw and got to know about that girl. She is like us Chotte, even she has lost her parents. Also she seemed to be self-confident just like you. She was not like other girls I have seen before, she is not the show-off type. That's why I thought she would be the perfect match for you", she said in a soft tone, hoping Arnav would understand.
"I know Di, I'm sorry for blasting at you before, but you know my anger, right? I really feel ashamed for the way I behaved. But you should have not proposed without asking me? You know that I don't desire to be loved anymore. Although I have moved on without thinking about my past, I really loved her. She was my first love. But now I don't feel anything for anyone. One day or the other Khushi would want to be loved. But what will happen if I want be able to give her the love she desire? It will be unfair by her Di. And not only will it  ruin her life, it will ruin mine as well", Arnav tried to explain his Di, why he denied the proposal.
"But how do you know Chotte? What if you fall in love with your wife, after marriage? You haven't even met her", Anjali thought of trying her best to convince her brother.
"I have met her Di. She has worked with me for a week. I even offered her a job, but she declined. Since then she haven't spoken a word to me. She didn't at least try to make amends with me. And that whole week I have observed her. Yes, she had all the qualities you said before, but she and I have completely different personalities. I don't think we will be ever compatible", Arnav told his sister the truth, because he never could lie to his Di.
"Oh, now I understand. You don't want to marry her because she didn't apologize to the Great ASR. Is this the reason?", Anjali said in a sarcastic tone, hoping that it would lighten up the mood.
"Yes, I am not happy with her for not apologizing for what she did. But I denied the proposal because of what I said before. Every girl's dream is to be loved by her husband. So I don't want to ruin an innocent girl's life. I don't want to shatter her dreams. Because once a glass is broken you can't pick up the pieces and remake it. It will be broken forever. It's the same with our heart. Heart is a fragile part of our body. If it is broken by someone once, then you will never be able to love another person again. The only thing you will feel, is the pain due to the wounds caused by the broken pieces of the heart. I know this because I have experienced it, and I don't want any other person in this world to feel that pain in their life, not even for once. Because it hurts Di, it hurts a lot", while saying the few last words, Arnav eyes welled up with tears that he had been hiding for four years. Yes, this was the first time he broke down in front of someone after his fiancee left him four years before.
Anjali couldn't stop the tears that were about to flow down her sweet face. She caressed her brother's hair, whose head was resting now on her laps. She couldn't bear to see her Chotte in this state anymore. He deserved to be loved. And she didn't know why, she felt that Khushi was the girl that would sooth the pain his heart was feeling. Khushi may not be able to remake the broken heart, but Anjali was sure that she will with time slowly heal the wounds of Arnav and he won't be suffering from this excruciating pain anymore. Anjali didn't want to force her brother to marry Khushi, but she thought of giving him sometime to think.
"Chotte, I didn't come here to emotionally blackmail you, or to try any of my tactics. All I want you to know is that I want you to be happy. I can't be happy, without you being happy. If staying single is what makes you happy, then I'm fine with it. But don't take this decision without thinking. I know you have moved on after that incident, but you haven't forgiven yourself for making the mistake of loving her. Falling in love is not a mistake, Chotte. It's the best thing that can happen to a person. If you consider that you did a mistake by falling in love, fine. Then learn from your mistake. People learn through their mistakes, Chotte. That's why God gives us second chances. Maybe this is your second chance. I know what your decision is right now , but remember, you might regret of this decision one day. So think well before you decide".
After giving her words of wisdom, Anjali thought of giving sometime for Arnav to be alone and refresh his mind. She wasn't sure whether he will agree for the proposal, but she was happy that at least she tried to convince her brother. She placed a kiss on her brother's forehead and left the room.
Arnav couldn't believe his Di's words. She was both his mom and sister. Since the day his mom died from a heart attack, Anjali had always been with him in every step he took towards success. She was the one who consoled him every time, when he felt down. But after the incident that happened four years before, he felt as he was drowning. He never thought that he would be able to survive, but his sister was his savior. She gave him the courage to live and that was why Arnav Singh Raizada was still standing on his feet. From that day onwards every breath he breathed was for her. That's why he wanted to move forward, trying to forget his past. In this process he had been hiding his feelings of guilt, regret and sorrow from the outside world, as he didn't want Arnav Singh Raizada to be known as a person with a poor soul. But today after letting out the feelings he felt for the first time in four years, he felt that his soul was regaining its strength slowly. Yes, he might have done the mistake of falling in love with the wrong girl, but he deserved a second chance. Maybe not for himself, but at least for his sister, he had to take this chance. After all, he was Arnav Singh Raizada, and he never gives up without trying. But first, he felt that he had to meet Khushi and talk to her, before making a final decision.
Khushi couldn't believe her ears when the Great ASR had called her, and when he himself asked her to meet him in this park at this hour of the day. It was 9pm, and there were few people around. She was seated in a bench in a corner which was lighted by a lamp post near by. The sky was invaded by the dark queen and there were no signs of any stars. An owl's hoot sent a chill through her spine. She felt the cold breeze hugging her body and she could sense the goosebumps on her body. She knew she was wrong that day to deny his offer and she felt that she was rude. So she thought that it would be unfair, if she didn't apologize to him today. Therefore the first thing she would do today as soon as she saw him would be saying sorry. Also she felt a bit nervous as she remembered about the proposal. She was not sure whether he would say yes or no. But she knew she was ready for any answer that would come from his side.
Arnav saw Khushi being lost in a pool of thoughts. So he thought of bringing her back by greeting her first.
"Khushi", he said.
Khushi was taken in by surprise by the sound of his husky voice.
"Hi Arnav", she said in a soft, sweet tone.
Without taking more time, she thought of apologizing to Arnav.
"I'm really sorry Arnav. I didn't mean to be all rude that day. I should have at least thought about the offer first. But I knew my decision would be the same. I should have tried to make you understand more, but before I could do anything, you left the cabin. When I came downstairs, you were no where to be seen. I felt hurt and I was feeling guilty, and that's why I didn't try to call you again. The day I received your cheque I tried to dial you, but I didn't have the strength to press the numbers. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I needed to say all this. But I don't regret my decision of declining you job offer", Khushi went on saying what she had to say without giving Arnav a chance to speak.
Arnav suddenly remembered the first meeting with Khushi. He remembered the way she apologized to him without hesitating to accept her fault. He was now feeling that she was doing the same today. All these days he thought she didn't call him because of her ego, but now he understood that she was feeling gulity for her mistake. He remembered her sister's conversation about God giving second chances. If he could get a second chance, why couldn't Khushi get one as well? He thought to himself. After few minutes of silence, he started to put his thoughts in to words.
"Khushi, I have to admit that I was hurt that day. I offered you the job full of hope. Therefore when you straightaway declined it, I was taken in by shock. Because as you know nobody says no to Arnav Singh Raizada. But now I understand why you declined it. You live on your own principles just like I do. You do what you think is right. Just like your name, you want yourself to be happy. So I think I can forgive you for that", Arnav said calmly, as he wanted to assure that he understood Khushi's decision.
"Thanks Arnav, I'm really glad that you forgave me. I mean, now I can sleep peacefully", Khushi said smiling.
"But that's not the reason I called you here today", Arnav said, nervously.
"I know, it's about the proposal, right? Look, I want be offended if you didn't agree for this. I'm doing this specially for my Chachu and Chachi and also for Lavanya", Khushi said in an understanding tone.
"You are right. I don't want to marry you. But it is not because I don't like you, but it is because I won't be able to love you".
Khushi was shocked. She thought he would reject her because he disliked her, but after what he said she couldn't figure out the Arnav she knew all these days.
"But the problem is I can't let down my Di as well. Although she says that she will be happy by whatever the decision I take, I know for sure that she wants to see me being married. So I wanted to clear the air before you made your decision. I know you said yes, but you can change your decision after hearing what I had said to you", Arnav said, as he felt relieved after explaining the situation to Khushi.
"Arnav, I know you must be thinking that I'm like any other typical girl, who is waiting for her prince charming to come and take her away to a magical castle so that they can live happily ever after. But you are wrong. I know the reality is not that wonderful. All my life I have only been loved by my parents. After they died, although I desired to be loved by my Chachu and Chachi in the same way, they couldn't fulfill my desire. I'm not blaming them for that. May be I was not destined to be loved in that way. And now I have no idea about the love that every single person in this world is talking about. So it is just an unwanted desire for me. The only thing I desire to see is the happiness in others face. And if I can bring a smile on one face everyday, that's it. My life would be complete. Because seeing another person smile, can make my heart fill with joy, which will make me lead my life happily. And that's what I want, to be happy. So if our marriage can make my family and your family happy, I'm ready to marry you", Khushi said with a slight smile on her face.
Arnav never expected an answer like that from this girl. He was all wrong about her. She truly was different. And now he was sure that she would be the perfect bahu for his family. He was hundred percent sure that his Di's choice was right. He might not be able to love her, but he knew that he would try his best to make her happy. Because she was ready to sacrifice her life to bring a smile on both their families. So Arnav made his final decision. That was he would marry Khushi.
How will Arnav's family react for Arnav's final decision? Will Rahul and Arnav's friendship still be the same after getting to know about Khushi's decision of marrying Arnav? Engagement of the both couples will be coming up next.

Chapter 12

Chapter 12 - The Proposal

After the shock Arnav got from Nani & Anjali Di before he left for office, Arnav was immersed in deep thoughts now. Were they talking about Khushi or Lavanya? This was the question that was bugging him every single second after he came to the office. He knew Lavanya was not the typical wife type. There was only about five percent chance of Lavanya being the choice for Akash. As for Khushi, she would be the ideal wife and bahu. But he didn't like this idea. As of right now, he was not in good terms with Khushi, but the idea of her being proposed for his bhai didn't really help him at the moment. He didn't know what to do? So he thought of letting things happen in it's own accord.

"Sir", Aman knocked in the cabin and came inside.
"Yeah Aman, what is it?", Arnav asked, coming back from his deep thoughts.
"You have to attend that meeting. Did you forget?", Aman asked in surprise, as his boss never forgets anything with regards to his job.
"Oh yeah, I'm leaving right away. Take care of the things here. If there is an emergency, call me", said Arnav, giving instructions to Aman. He didn't know how he could forget something important like this. "Damn, that girl have made me a fool", Arnav told himself.
Mr.and Mrs. Gupta were thrilled the day before, when they got a call saying that the top business family of India, was ready to bring a proposal for their daughter. Yes, the proposal was for Lavanya. So the proud parents were all busy in cleaning the house and making all the arrangements necessary to impress the Raizada's. They checked the time every single second, as they were so impatient. After all, this was a golden opportunity and they didn't want it to slip from their hands so easily. In her room, Lavanya was getting ready to present herself for the Raizada's, and she was feeling over the moon.
"OMG, finally I won't have to worry about Arnav. I never did imagine things would be so easy. I mean, seems like even god doesn't like Arnav-Khushi duo", Lavanya was hyperventilating with joy. But the only thing she didn't know was that she was about to be proposed to Arnav's cousin brother. That's right. Yesterday as soon as her parents gave the news, she ran upstairs as she couldn't believe her ears. She was all excited and unfortunately her mind missed to ask the most important question. That is, "To whom am I proposed to?". Well, it was fair that she missed to ask the question, as there was only one eligible bachelor in the Raizada house now. Lavanya was draped in a teal blue saree (http://www.mysareestore.com/images/mss-14089.jpg), which brought out her beauty more sharply. Her hair was left open and she looked gorgeous. Lavanya was now waiting for her parents call, so that she could rush downstairs.
Nani and Dadi had arrived at Gupta house and they were pleased with the way they were welcomed, although they felt that it was a little overdone. The decorations and food seemed to be a little too much. But they felt that Gupta family was nice. Although they were modern, they seemed to value the traditional ideas as well. Therefore Nani knew the families would get along, so she wanted to see the girl now. Mrs.Gupta went upstairs to bring Lavanya to meet her future-in-laws. After some minutes, Nani's eyes stopped at the figure that was slowly coming down. Her eyes didn't show any sign of fear or nervousness like any normal girl would have shown, and Nani was impressed by this. Nani wanted her grandson to share his life with a girl full of confidence. Lavanya came and got blessings from Nani and welcomed Anjali as well. Both Nani and Anjali were impressed by the behaviour of this girl. They carried out the conversation for sometime. All were laughing and enjoying each others topics, when Anjali's eyes stopped at the petite figure, that was heading towards them. It was Khushi. Anjali couldn't believe her eyes, as she had never seen a girl who looked so good in her natural look. Neither did she have much make up and neither was she wearing many jewellery. This girl was simple, yet charming. And she seemed to have a unique personality. Anjali didn't know why, but at this instant her mind said, this was the girl for her Chotte.
Khushi was surprised to see guests, as she didn't have any idea what was going on. "May be they forgot to let me know, as I came late yesterday", she thought to herself. But after seeing Lavanya in a saree, Khushi felt that these were not any ordinary guests. They have come with a proposal. She felt hurt again. "They didn't seem to think it was important for me to know that today there was a family coming to see Lavanya? Didn't they think that I would be happy to know that my sister was about to be proposed?", Khushi was thinking by herself.
"Who is this?", Anjali asked out of curiosity. She knew that it was rude to pry, but she couldn't wait anymore to know about this wonderful looking girl.
"Oh, this is my elder brother's daughter, Khushi. Her parents passed away when she was small, and she is now staying with us", Mr.Gupta explained.
"Great", thought Anjali, as she figured out that there was another similarity between Khushi and her Chotte.
"Come Khushi, why dont' you join us", Anjali said politely, as she wanted to know more about this girl.
"I was about to leave, but I guess I can stay for few minutes", Khushi said nicely, as she couldn't ignore the politeness of this wonderful lady.
Anjali and Khushi enjoyed each others conversation and they got to know about each other a lot. By now Anajli had confirmed that this was the girl for Arnav. Anjali knew he might deny this idea, but she knew she should give it a try. Anjali liked Khushi a lot. The way Khushi dressed, her appearance, the way she talked with confidence, everything. And now, Nani had realized what was going on in her granddaughter's mind. So she thought of talking on her behalf.
"Look Mr.Gupta, we have another proposal", Nani said.
"Wow, seems like today is my lucky day. I mean I'm honored to agree for any of the proposal you are about to bring", said Mr.Gupta happily.
"Well, we would like to propose our second grandson for your niece", Nani said.
Everyone was shocked. Khushi, Lavanya, Mona and Rajiv. They didn't expect such kind of a proposal. But Rajiv and Mona didn't mind as long as their daughter was accepted as a daughter-in-law along with Khushi. And they didn't want to let the Raizada's down by denying the proposal. So they agreed. But Lavanya was in shock.
"What do you mean by second grandson?", Lavanya asked as she could feel something was about to go wrong.
"Arnav, he is our second grandson. We would like to propose Arnav for Khushi", Nani said, smiling.
Lavanya felt as if all her dreams were shattering. Whys does god always make everything difficult? "But I thought I was going to marry Arnav?", Lavanya asked, thinking to confirm whether she heard it right.
"No darling, you are going to marry Akash, not Arnav", Mona said reassuringly.
Lavanya could sense that tears were about to fall, but she didn't want to show that she felt weak, So she faked a smile, excused them and went upstairs.
Although Lavanya left, Khushi was still unable to move form her chair after hearing the double shocking news. A guy was being proposed to her and not any guy, it was Arnav. Never in her dreams did she imagine that this would happen. The person she didn't want to talk to, was being proposed for her. She felt as if her whole body was melting. Neither could she move, neither did she want to hear anymore. But before she could do anything, she was stopped by Anjali. "What do you say, Khushi? I mean I'm sure you must have heard about Arnav by now?'.
Khushi didn't know what to say. She looked up and saw the eyes of her Chachu and Chachi. They had hope in their eyes. She knew if she denied the proposal, Raizada's will feel rejected and that would affect Lavanya's future. If she agreed, Lavanya would feel betrayed as well. But she knew that whatever the decision she takes, Lavanya would still blame her. So she made up her mind to do right by her Chachu and Chachi, and nodded her head saying, "Yes, I would like to marry him". Khushi could see the relief in her Chachu and Chachi's eyes. They seemed really happy. This is what she wanted. For the first time she saw them appreciate her for what she did, through their eyes. It may have not been a verbal appreciation, but yet it was enough for her. But suddenly she was bothered by the thought, what Arnav would say? After all they were not in good terms. She knew she was wrong, but she didn't want to talk to him either. She left the thought aside, and wished Nani and Anjali good bye. She left to her room, trying to digest what happened before.
It was night, and Khushi was going to her room, when she heard her Chachu and Chachi trying to convince Lavanya to marry Akash. It seemed as if Lavanya had told her parents about her huge crush towards Arnav.
"Darling, this is a great opportunity. Please try to understand. We didn't expect things to happen this way. If you liked Arnav, why didn't you tell us before? Now it's too late. We can't lose this golden opportunity. Come on, what's important is that you get to be a "Raizada Bahu". You are going to get all the comforts and fame in the world. They are the top business family in the country. And think, by marrying Akash you will be the badi bahu. You won't have to obey any other person there. Also you can make Khushi dance according to your song", Mona tried to make her daughter understand the advantages of being a Raizada bahu and Akash's wife.
Lavanya now understood her mom was right. Yes, she would act like a good bahu and wife and win the hearts of the Raizadas. Not only that, she will be able to win over Khushi. Slowly she will lay the web on Khushi, and will make Khushi her prey. After all there is a saying right, "Keep your friends closer, enemies even more closer".
Finally Lavanya agreed and Mona and Rajiv hugged their daughter in satisfaction. But they didn't know the plan that was about to be executed by their daughter.
Khushi felt hurt again about how her Chachi was talking about her. But she had got used to it by now. She felt happy for Lavanya, as she thought that she had finally made up her mind to marry Akash. So a bit relieved Khushi went to her room, feeling mentally tired of thinking about the previous happenings of the day.
Arnav had come home late after the meeting and he had his dinner. Then he thought of talking to Akash about Nani and Di's idea. Akash denied the proposal at first. But after Arnav made it clear that Akash should think from Arush's point of view, Akash understood. Arnav was somehow successful in convincing Akash to say yes for the proposal. Although he was not comfortable with the feeling that Khushi would be the choice for Akash, he made up his mind as he knew Akash deserved her. So he went to the hall to announce this wonderful news which would make his family jump with joy.
As soon as the family heard Arnav's news, the reaction was the same as what Arnav had expected. All the elders talked to Arush and made him understand. Arush seemed to hesitate tof to accept a new mom in his life, but after some time he seemed to be okay with it.
"Wow Chotte, you are really good at convincing people, aren't you?", Anjali said proudly.
"Except for one person", he thought to himself, as he remembered Khushi's denial of the job offer. Wiping off his thoughts he said, "Did you forget Di, I'm Arnav SIngh Raizada".
"Pata hai, pata hai... You are the great ASR", Anajli said, chuckling.
"By the way, Chotte. There is another thing I have to say to you", Anjali said nervously, before breaking the news about Khushi to her Chotte.
"What is it Di? Is it the girl's name? Oh yeah, what's the girl's name?", Arnav asked, not showing his curiosity.
"Lavanya"
Arnav was surprised at his Di's choice. Although he felt a little relieved, he was not sure whether Lavanya would be the right choice.
"But are you sure Di?", Arnav asked.
"Yeah. But don't worry, there will be another person to help her handle this house", Anjali said, making Arnav feel tensed about the bomb that his sister was about drop on him.
"What do you mean Di? What are you trying to say?"
"Yes Chotte, we proposed you for Lavanya's cousin, Khushi", Anajli said in one breath.
The bomb was dropped and now Arnav was about to blast off.
"What? Are you out of your mind Di? You know I don't believe in love anymore, and still you went on doing such a stupid thing. I have clearly said that I don't want to marry, and yet you proposed me to a girl? How could you do this Di? Fine, lets say you wanted to do this, you should have asked me before", Arnav went on saying without thinking what was coming out of his mouth.
Everybody was shocked and in fear. They knew how Arnav would react, but they all thought of taking this chance as they believed Arnav deserved to be happy, just like Akash.
"Chotte I wasn't planning anything. The second I saw Khushi in that house, I felt that she was the girl for you. After I talked with her, my choice was confirmed. That's why I went on with my decision. I'm sorry if I didn't ask from you before I took the decision. But I know what I did was right", Anjali said in a firm tone.
"Wow Di, you took the decision by yourself, right? So why don't you listen to mine as well. I don't want to marry Khushi. Don't ask questions and don't try to change my mind by your tactics. Remember it's a big NO from my side and I'm sure that Khushi would't agree as well", saying his decision in a rough tone, Arnav left the hall, as he knew he had to take control of his anger.
Will Anjali be able to convince Arnav? Will Khushi apologize to Arnav? Will Arnav forgive Khushi?
