Chapter 23 - Surprise! Surprise!

Next morning Khushi woke up to the sound of her irritating alarm. She was feeling really sleepy as she slept late last night, after her phone conversation with Arnav. A slight smile appeared on her face after remembering their small talks. She greeted the sun as usual and made her way to the washroom to change. After washing her face, she quickly changed in to a maroon coloured tank top and black pants(http://images.asos-media.com/inv/media/2/4/6/6/2616642/oxblood/image1xxl.jpg). While combing her hair, she suddenly remembered that today was a special day. It was her Chachi's birthday. She quickly put on a ponytail and ran downstairs.
Khushi was glad to see that her Chachi had still not left for work. She went to her and gave a heart warming hug, while wishing her a happy birthday.
"Happy Birthday Chachi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", Khushi screamed.
"Thanks Khushi, but I'm not deaf. Anyway thanks for the wishes", Mona said with a slight smile.
"So what are the special plans for today Chachi, we need treats", Khushi said cheerfully while winking at Mona.
"I'm not a child Khushi. There will be nothing special. Anyway, I have to go to work. Your Chachu has already left. So good bye to both of you", Mona said, while leaving from the dining room.
After Mona left, Khushi and Lavanya sat for breakfast. Lavanya's eagle eyes had suddenly spotted the beautiful letter "A" pendant that was adorning Khushi neck. She was feeling as jealous as a nine day's lover, but she thought of calming herself down, as she wanted to know the current relationship status of Arnav and Khushi.
"Wow, nice pendant Khushi. Did Arnav gift it to you?", Lavanya asked with a sly smile.
As Khushi was now fully aware of Lavanya's thoughts about Arnav and her relationship, she didn't want the plant of jealousy in Lavanya's mind to grow further. So she lied, although she hated to do so.
"No Lavanya,  this was gifted by mom one year before she met with the accident. I didn't wear this all this time, because I tend to remember the day I lost her, whenever I saw it. But yesterday suddenly I wore it, as I want her to be always with me when I step into my new life with Arnav".
Lavanya felt slightly relieved after hearing Khushi's words, and then she remembered that Khushi's mom's name was Aditi. She thought of showing her fake affection and suddenly embraced Khushi in a heart warming hug. Khushi gasped with shock at the sudden gesture of Lavanya, as she knew this was all an act. But she went along with the act, hoping that everything will be fine someday.
"I'm sorry Khushi", Lavanya said thoughtfully.
"It's okay Di", Khushi said.
After few minutes, Khushi broke the embrace and asked with a cheerful mood, "Anyway, tell me what you have planned for Chachi's b'day? I'm sure you must have thought of something by now?".
"Of course. I thought of giving her a surprise party. This will be the last b'day I would be spending with her before marriage. So I want it to be special. So I thought of  only inviting the close ones. The Raizada's and my idiotic friend, Rahul", Lavanya said in an excited tone.
"That's great. But Lav, will the time be enough?", Khushi asked, as she felt there were lot of stuff to be done before Chachi's arrival.
"Don't worry. We three will be able to manage. Rama and I together will bake the cake and prepare the other food stuff. Since you suck at cooking, why don't you do the decorations", Lavanya said.
"Okay, no problem. I'm sorry I will be of no use in the kitchen department, but I will prepare the jalebis. Also I will do the decorations", Khushi said, agreeing with Lavanya.
"Okay then, you finish decor by 3.30pm and start frying jalebis by that time. I think mom will arrive by 6.00pm. So I'll tell Anjali Di to come by 5.30pm", Lavanya said.
"Great. Then I will run to town now and get the necessary stuff", Khushi said, and left Lavanya to attend to her cooking and baking session.
By 4.30pm, Khushi had wonderfully decorated the whole house and had prepared the golden-orange jalebis successfully. Lavanya also had baked the cake and had prepared so many wonderful sweets and short-eats as well. Both of them arranged the table and went to their rooms, as they had to change.
Khushi looked in the mirror and smiled feeling satisfied by the way she had dressed herself. As she didn't want to overdress herself, she had worn a maroon poncho top(http://myntra.myntassets.com/images/style/properties/United-Colors-of-Benetton-Women-Maroon-Poncho-Top_0b3a015eebd7b8892d9f4568079de7c4_images_1080_1440_mini.jpg) and black jeans. Her hair was left open and her ears were adorned by a simple pair of earstuds(http://img2.etsystatic.com/006/0/6316666/il_170x135.372265930_m5yx.jpg). Her neck was as usual adorned by the pendant gifted by Arnav. She placed a kiss on the pendant and smiled at the thought of meeting Arnav after few minutes.
Finally when Khushi came downstairs, she saw that Rama had already welcomed the guests. Khushi walked straight to the elders and took blessings from Nani, Mama and Mami. Then she embrace Anjali Di for a warm hug. Next she greeted Akash and welcomed Arush by placing a kiss on his cheek. She felt a little worried as she couldn't find Arnav.
"Di, didn't Arnav come", Khushi asked, a little worried.
Khushi was surprised to see the smirk on Anjali's face, when she heard Arnav's voice from behind.
"Are you kidding me? You really thought that I would embarrass myself like last time, by being punished by Di for being late?", Arnav said, while smiling at Khushi.
"Hi to you too", Khushi said, with a chuckle.
"By the way, where the hell is the hostess of this party?", Rahul asked in his usual teasing tone.
"Here I am", Lavanya said, while descending the stairs. She was looking gorgeous with her amazing figure. She had dressed herself in a maroon-sea green churidaar(http://www.sareez.com/images/51/641/45SLH3007A_M_CHURIDAR.jpg.thumb_

) and her hair was done in a high ponytail. She was looking simply stunning. Everybody was amazed by the beauty that finally reached the gathering. Lavanya, just like Khushi took the blessings from the elders, and they kept on praising her for her beauty. And specially Mami was really glad to see her bahu-to-be in an Indian attire, and she went on complimenting her.
Lavanya was now feeling the thrill of victory, as she had easily won the hearts of the Raizada family members. Her plan had worked. She never liked to wear Indian outfits for parties, but she thought of wearing this outfit today, so that she can impress her in-laws. And she had succeeded in her plan.
Khushi was shocked to see Lavanya in an Indian outfit, as she never wore Indian outfits for these kinds of parties. But she realized what Lavanya had planned by now, and she was worried.
"You look charming as usual, Khushi. You can't judge a person by the appearance. So stop worrying, and replace that ugly frown on your face with your amazing smile that can brighten millions of hearts in one go", Arnav whispered to Khushi in his husky voice.
Khushi was surprised by the words whispered by Arnav and how he had read her mind by her facial expressions. She finally put on a smile on her face and said, "You really know how to cheer me up, don't you?".
"I'm your partner, remember?", Arnav said, and they smiled at each other.
The surprise was successful, as it went as planned. Mona was surprised at her daughter's idea and she felt really lucky to have a daughter like her. They cut the cake and Mona made her husband, daughter and Khushi take a bite from the piece of cake, respectively. Then all of them seated themselves around the table and started to taste the sweets and short-eats served.
"Wow, these are really delicious. Did you both prepare all these? Well, what can I say? I'm proud to have two Bhabhi's like you both", Anjali said, while complimenting both Khushi and Lavanya.
"Thanks Di. But Khushi doesn't cook, so I prepared them by myself", Lavanya said, while taking full credit.
Khushi was now feeling a little embarrassed, but she hid it successfully under her innocent smile. But it was too late. Arnav had realized Khushi's state and he was fuming from inside. He wondered how Lavanya could embarrass Khushi in front of his family.
"If I wanted a wife who fills my stomach with meals, then I would have decided to marry a cook, not Khushi, right?", Arnav asked, and looked at Khushi asking whether she was alright through his eyes. Khushi smiled and replied that she was alright by blinking once.
Lavanya felt as if her efforts were useless, so she thought of changing the topic.
"Arre Arnav, you didn't eat much. At least eat a sweet. After all this is a happy occasion", Lavanya insisted.
"Actually Lavanya, he is a diabetic. So he can't eat sweets", Anjali said, clearing Lavanya's doubts.
"Wait", Khushi said and walked towards the kitchen. She came back with a bowl containing some jalebis.
"Khushi, why did you bring more, when there are plenty of jalebis here?", Anjali asked, with questioning eyes.
"Di, these are sugar-free jalebis. I made them for Arnav", Khushi said with a smile, while placing the bowl in front of Arnav.
Arnav took one and tasted the yellow-orange jalebi. After enjoying the jalebi, he looked at Khushi and smiled with satisfaction. This gesture was enough for Khushi to realize that Arnav liked the jalebis she made. She smiled at him with appreciation.
"Khushi Beta, I thought you said you can't cook? But you made all these jalebis right?", Nani said lovingly.
"Ji Nani", Khushi said in an innocent tone.
"I loved them. Once you come into our house, I will teach you to prepare all kinds of dishes. Then you don't have to worry about that as well", Nani said.
"Thanks Nani", Khushi said, while accepting Nani's help.
The rest of the evening was full of conversations and laughs, as everybody enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere around. After all the guests left, Khushi retired to her room. As soon as her head touched the pillow, she drifted in to the world of dreams, while remembering the way Arnav had supported her through out the evening, may it be by compliments or by caring, simple gestures.
Next two day were boring for Khushi, as she didn't have anything special to do. Nor did she have any functions to attend at Payal's place, and Arnav was also busy with trying to find a new replacement for the designer post. And finally when he found sometime to call her, he would keep on complaining about the faults of every single applicant who came for the interview. Khushi sometimes even laughed silently at the way Arnav acted these days. She felt as if Arnav was a child, who would be complaining about everything that happened around. But at the end of the conversation, she was somehow successful to calm him down.
Today Arnav had already interviewed ten applicants, and all of them were useless. He was feeling really stressed out by now, so he closed his eyes hoping that a solution would pop out saying "surprise!". The silence in the cabin was broken, by the sudden knock on the door.
"Come in", Arnav said in an angry tone, while keeping his eyes shut.
"Excuse me, Mr.Raizada", the person said softly.
Arnav's eyes opened with surprise, as soon as the sound waves reached his ears. It was Khushi, and he was surprised at her sudden visit to meet him.
"What are you doing here Khushi?", Arnav asked, with a surprised look.
"Sir, I'm here for the designer post. Here is my CV", Khushi said, and gave her file.
Arnav now saw the smirk that had appeared on the angelic face and he realized that she was playing with him. So he thought of playing along as well.
"Hmmm...", Arnav said, while pretending as if he was reading the file for real.
"Not bad. When compared with others, you seem to be more qualified for this job. So I guess the designer post is yours, Miss Gupta", Arnav said in a serious tone.
Khushi opened her mouth, hoping to say something, but she was cut off by Arnav's words.
"But I heard that you refuse to work under any boss, am I right?", Arnav asked, while letting the signature smirk appear on his face.
Khushi took slow steps towards Arnav, and finally stopped behind Arnav's chair. She wrapped her tiny arms around Arnav's neck and leaned towards him.
"I said I won't work under any boss, not my fiance", Khushi whispered in Arnav's ear, and let out an innocent giggle.
Arnav suddenly grasped one of Khushi's fragile wrists and pulled her at once, making her petite body land on his lap. Both of them were lost in each others eyes, and Arnav saw Khushi's soft, rosy cheeks turning into red, just like a cherry.

Will Arnav and Khushi get to romance, or will they be disturbed by someone? If so, who would that be?
Chapter 22 - Sudden Decision

Arnav & Khushi had almost lost track of time, when suddenly Khushi's phone rang. As Khushi realized the caller was Payal, she thought it would be best if they went downstairs.
"Come on, lets go. Payal is waiting for us", Khushi said to Arnav.
"Can't we stay like this for a little more?", Arnav asked, as he didn't like much to engage in functions.
"No Mr.Raizada. They are waiting for us downstairs. Lets go", Khushi said firmly, pulling from his hand.
"You really know how to ruin a romantic moment", Arnav said with a smirk.
"Then it's good right? When I ruin the moment, you will be there to make it right", Khushi said smiling.
"Okay, Okay. Lets go, before I change my mind", Arnav said with a smile.
Once Arnav & Khushi reached downstairs, they saw Aman and Payal enjoying the first dance of the night. When Khushi was about to go and talk to Payal, Arnav slowly held Khushi's hand and pulled her towards him.
"What are you doing Arnav?", Khushi asked a little nervously.
"What? I don't want you to leave. Once you get together with your best buddy, you will forget about me. Then what will happen to me? I don't know anyone here. The only person I know other than you and Payal, is Aman. Frankly, he is not the kind of guy I want to hang around with. He barely speaks with me, unless it is something professional", Arnav said, as he didn't want to let Khushi go.
"Look who is talking? You are telling all this? You do realize that people are scared of you and that's why they don't want to talk with you? And here you are, pointing your finger at Aman, when it's clearly your fault", Khushi said in her teasing tone.
"Fine, go to your best friend. I'm going home. Call me after reaching home", Arnav said in an upset mood.
"Uffo Arnav, just wait for few more minutes. I'll be back", Khushi said, as she didn't want to make Arnav upset.
"But why are you in a hurry to meet Payal. She is already enjoying the performances. You will be only disturbing her", Arnav said.
"Just wait and watch", Khushi said with a wink.
Khushi left Arnav and went near Payal. By now two performances were over. The whole place was dark and suddenly two spot lights fell on the stage. And there they were, the two best friends on stage. That's when Arnav realized what Khushi was up to. She had planned to perform with Payal tonight. The audience were now clapping and whistling. The song started to play from the background and both Khushi and Payal started to do their steps according to the tune. Arnav was lost in Khushi's moves by now. In these few day he had seen many sides of Khushi, but he didn't know that she could dance this well. She was truly talented, and he felt proud to say that she was his girl. Khushi was the center of attention as usual, because she was truly amazing. As the song came to an end, both the girls came down from the stage. It took ten minutes for Khushi to reach to Arnav, because every person present wanted to praise her for her wonderful performance. Although he wanted her to come to him soon, he controlled his patience. Finally Khushi came to him while smiling.
"How was my dance?", Khushi asked, staring at him with her doe like eyes. She looked like a child who was waiting to be given a star for her excellent work. Arnav smiled at this thought and sent his arm around her shoulders and made her lean on him.
"You were amazing. Seems like you are perfectly fit for the status of Mrs.Raizada. An all-rounder just like me", Arnav said in his teasing tone.
Later Khushi was telling Arnav about the guests that had arrived for the function. She even introduced some of them to him.
"You are a real gossip girl, aren't you?", Arnav asked with his unique smirk on his face.
"This is not gossiping, this is called interacting with others. Unlike you, I like to get to know other people. You know, some other time you should do it as well", Khushi said smiling at him.
"Well, why should I? Now that you are mine, I'm sure you will be there with me always to give all the gossip about the people around us", Arnav said teasingly.
"You really know how to make someone stop talking, don't you?", Khushi said.
"Of course. I'm...", Arnav was stopped in the middle, as Khushi completed his sentence. "Arnav Singh Raizada",
"See, I was right. You will be there to complete me", Arnav said smiling while looking at her eyes.
Khushi felt a sudden thrill within her, as he said that she completes him. Their eye lock was suddenly broken by Payal's voice.
"Excuse me to both of you", Payal said, in a teasing tone.
"Hey Payal, what's up girl?", Khushi asked.
"Actually I wanted to talk to both of you. It's that Aman's parents don't want me to work after marriage. So I will have to quit from work, just before marriage. I'm sorry I had to wait this long let you know ASR, but even I got to know only yesterday. Aman tried to explain to his parents, but they denied. I'm really sorry", Payal said, in a depressed tone.
"What the... But why do you want to quit? Why don't you say that you don't want to quit?", Arnav said in an angry tone.
Khushi didn't want to make the matter worse, so she squeezed Arnav's hand to make him calm down. Khushi knew Payal was already upset, and she didn't want Arnav to make her stressed out as well.
"Did you at least talk to his parents Payal? I know you from a long time and I know how much this job meant for you. Is this what you want?", Khushi asked in a sad tone, as she was worried for Payal.
"It's not a question about what I want or not? I'm getting married Khushi. When you get married, not only you become bound to your husband, you have to form a special bond with his family as well. So in this process, we have to make sacrifices. I love Aman a lot. And I don't want to become a burden for him, in this matter. So I have clearly decided in quitting. I'm sorry", Payal tried to explain her situation.
Both Arnav and Khushi were feeling sorry for Payal right now. But they didn't know what to do. At the end of the Sangeet ceremony, both Arnav & Khushi wished the couple good luck and bid them good bye.
Once at the parking lot, Arnav felt that his cheerful Khushi was now feeling down and he knew what the reason was.
"Khushi do you want me to talk to Aman about this matter?", Arnav asked Khushi, while turning her around to face him.
"No Arnav, it's a family problem. We can't get involved in it. But I still can't understand why Aman's parents are thinking in the old fashioned way. What's wrong if their daughter-in-law is doing a job?", Khushi asked a little angrily.
"We can't change the way people think Khushi. Anyway, now I have to find a new designer. Which is like finding a needle in a hay stack", Arnav said in a worried tone.
"I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to work in your company", Khushi said chuckling.
"I don't want just people Khushi. I want people with a unique, fresh talent. Which nowadays is really hard to find. Let it be. You should get going, it's getting late", Arnav said in a concerned manner.
"Okay then. Bye", Khushi said. Before Arnav could reply, his phone rang.
"Hello Di", Arnav said while answering the phone.
"Chottey, where the hell are you?", Anjali answered in her angry tone.
"Di, hold on", Arnav said, as he wanted Khushi to leave quickly because it was late.
He placed a kiss on her forehead and said, "Go now, and text me as soon as you reach home", Arnav said while caressing her cheek.
"I will. Say hello to Di. Good night. Take care", Khushi said while smiling at him. She got in the car and drove away. As soon as Khushi left, Arnav too got in to his car and left in the hope of pacifying his sister.
Arnav had refreshed himself after returning home. He was feeling dead tired as it was a long day. But his heart was filled with happiness. He was really glad today, as he had finally confessed his love to Khushi. He thanked god for making him realize his love for this wonderful girl, before it was too late. A sudden knock on his door, broke his trance. It was his Di.
"Chottey, where were you all this time? I was so worried for you. Rahul said you suddenly took today's flight to India, saying that you had some important work. I called your phone but you didn't answer. I called your office too. But they said you didn't come there as well. Where were you?", Anjali asked worriedly.
"Di, I am here now. You don't have to worry anymore. Anyway, I'm sure your anger will fade away when you get to know where I was", Arnav said with a sly smile.
"So where were you?", Anjali asked, with questioning eyes.
"I went to meet Khushi, I'm in love with her Di", Arnav said cheerfully.
Anjali felt as she was over the moon. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears of joy. She didn't have words to express how happy she was feeling right now.
"Oh my god. You are in love. Didn't I tell you Chottey, you will fall in love once again. I'm so glad for you. And I'm thankful for god for sending a girl like Khushi in your life. Promise me Chottey that you will never hurt her, and no matter what happens you will be with her", Anjali said, while caressing Arnav's face.
"I promise Di. I'm sure now your anger's washed away, right?", Arnav said chuckling.
"Of course. Okay, you should go to sleep now. You must be tired after such a long journey. Good night", Anjali said, while leaving Arnav to rest.
"Good night Di", Arnav said, while resting his head on the pillow.
As soon as Khushi reached home, she had texted Arnav. She was now lying on the bed and was admiring the pendant Arnav had gifted her. She was feeling so happy, as she had found the perfect life partner in Arnav. Khushi was reliving the moments she spent on the terrace with Arnav during Payal's Sangeet ceremony, when suddenly she was brought back to real world by the ringing tone of her phone.
"Hello", Khushi answered the phone with a slight smile on her face. It was nearly 1.00am.
"Hey, were you sleeping?", the caller asked.
"I was about to. But seems like now I won't be able to", Khushi said teasingly.
"So you want me to hang up and let you sleep? Fine. Good night", the caller said in an angry tone, and suddenly ended the call.
Khushi was surprised when Arnav suddenly ended the call because he was angry. And she knew something was bothering him. So she thought of calling him. After few rings, Arnav answered the phone.
"Hey Arnav, what's up?", Khushi asked.
"I thought you were sleepy, that you didn't want to talk with me at this hour of the day?", Arnav said sarcastically.
"I was kidding. You can call me whenever you want. So now tell me what is bothering you?", Khushi said calmly.
"How do you know that I'm worried about something", Arnav asked.
"From your tone and from the way you jumped at me", Khushi said.
"Sorry. What will I do now Khushi? There are some clients coming at the end of this month and I have to show them new designs. How am I supposed to find a perfect designer by next week? You know that it's not an easy task, right?", Arnav said in one breath.
"Look Arnav, don't worry. You will find a new designer by next week. After-all, your Arnav SIngh Raizada, remember? But if your still worried, I can make you feel a little better by saying this. If you don't find anyone by next week, I will help you with the designs. Remember, we make a pretty good team", Khushi said, hoping that she could ease away Arnav's worries.
Arnav was surprised at the way Khushi was always able to give the best solutions for all his problems.
"Oh, so you will work under me?", Arnav asked, with a grin on his face.
"Are you deaf Arnav? I said I'll help you. Not work under you", Khushi said firmly, a little irritated.
"Okay, okay. I was just kidding. Thanks a lot for making me feel a little bit better", Arnav said, feeling relaxed.
"No problem. That's what friends are for, right?", Khushi said laughing.
"Really, now you are my friend? I thought you are my fiancee?", Arnav said, hoping to tease Khushi.
"I am ready to be your friend, employee, fiancee, teammate, wife, anything you want me to be in our journey together. Because that's what life partners do. They will always be with you in any role, whenever you need them", Khushi said thoughtfully.
"I love you Khushi", Arnav said those three magical words, because he didn't know how else he could express the feelings he was feeling for her right now. Because words were not enough to say how much he loved her.
Arnav and Khushi went on talking and laughing to each other, as nobody was ready to end their conversation. It was nearly 2am, when both of them went to sleep with a smile of satisfaction on both their faces.

Will Arnav find a new designer? If yes, who would it be? Will Lavanya realize that Arnav and Khushi's bond was getting stronger?

Chapter 21

Chapter 21 - Confessions

Today was the day before Arnav would return after his trip to UK. Previous days, although Khushi had missed Arnav a lot, he had somehow managed to talk to her every single day. They were more comfortable with each other now, and they understood each other very well. He had said that he wouldn't be able to come online today, as there would be an after party of the fashion show. Though Khushi felt disappointed about not being able to talk to him, she somehow made up her mind, as it was only a matter of one day and he will be in front of her eyes tomorrow. She managed to keep herself occupied in Payal's marriage preparations through out the week, and it was a slight success. Today was Payal's Sangeet ceremony and Khushi dressed herself in a cream and blue salwar (http://www.aishwaryadesignstudio.com/images/thumbs/0007483_600.jpeg) and she looked simple, yet charming. Since Lavanya, Chachu and Chachi weren't at home, Khushi informed Rama that she will be late tonight and also to not to wait for her.
After reaching Payal's place, Khushi was busy with making all the preparations. She helped Buaji a lot. Nobody could say that Khushi was the daughter of a country's top lawyer's or the Raizada-bahu-to-be. Because she was a much down to earth person. She kept on teasing Aman the whole day and kept on chatting with Payal as well. It was the evening and Khushi was helping the other girls to serve drinks for the guests, when her eyes stopped at the lovey dovey couple in front of her. She felt so happy for her best friend Payal, as she had found her true love today. Payal seemed to be really happy and Khushi knew that Payal deserved the best. So who else could be better than Aman? Her eyes filled with tears of joy and suddenly she wondered how Arnav and her relationship would be after their marriage.
She had never thought of this topic before. Both of them were doing this marriage to see the happiness of both families, but will they be happy? It was true that Arnav cared for her a lot and that he was there for her, but would that be enough? Will he want her to fall in love with him in the future, even though now he says he didn't care whether she loved him? Will she be able to live without being loved by her own husband? Khushi was now feeling depressed and she could feel pearl like tear drops rolling down her cheeks. She didn't want anyone to see her in this state, so she ran towards the terrace of the house. Little did she know that a pair of eyes had witnessed the state she was in right now.
Khushi was now on the terrace under the dark sky, where stars were hidden by the dark clouds. Although it was supposed to be a full moon day, the dark queen seemed to have successfully prevented the moon from being seen by the world. Khushi felt that the whole surrounding was dull, although it was a happy occasion. She heard soft footsteps from behind and she turned around. She was surprised to see her best friend, Payal. Khushi quickly wiped off her tears and put a smile on her face.
"Hey Payal, what the hell are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with Aman? There is only 30 minutes left to start the sangeet", Khushi said in a firm tone.
"You expect me to enjoy my sangeet, while my best friend is crying on the terrace", Payal asked, as she had witnessed Khushi's state downstairs. So she thought of confronting her now, as she didn't want  to see her best friend worried.
"Arre pagli, why would I cry? These were tears of joy, seeing the way both you and Aman love each other", Khushi said cheerfully, hoping that Payal would buy her story.
"Really Khushi? I have known you for so long, and you think I wouldn't know if you are lying to me? Then I think you don't know much about me", Payal said, a little upset.
"No, no. Okay it's true I was feeling a little sad, because you would be leaving me soon", Khushi said sadly.
"Is it the only reason? You can't lie to me Khushi, you know I will be staying in the same town. It's about Arnav ji, isn't it? You miss him, don't you?", Payal said, as she knew how much Khushi was missing Arnav.
Khushi couldn't hide her tears anymore, and she broke down. Payal felt really sorry for the girl in front of her. She didn't want Khushi to be all worried like this, as she knew Khushi deserved all the happiness in the world. But here she was, bearing all the sorrows in her heart, alone.
"I don't know Payal. Never in my dreams did I think I could miss someone so much, and that too in such a short period of time. I hated him first, for his ego, stubbornness, etc. But every time he made me disappointed, he somehow managed to win me over, by some kind of gesture. Even though I know he doesn't want to love me, I still agreed to marry him, for his family's happiness. Every single day I'm getting attracted to him. May it be his appearance, his touch, his fights, his harsh words, the way he cares, the thoughtful gifts, his simple gestures, his words, everything makes my heart fill with joy. All the emotions I feel, when he is around are new for me. I don't know what it is, but these few days without him made me realize that I cannot live without him. Although he called me every single day, still it's not enough. I need him Payal, I really need him. I have never been dependent on anyone my entire life, but today I feel that I won't be able to breath without him, I know it's insane, but that is the truth", Khushi put all her emotions that she was feeling right now in to words.
"Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!! Khushi you are in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", Payal screamed from the top of her voice.
"Kya? Are you mad?", Khushi asked with questioning eyes.
"I'm not mad, you are. Finally my girl has fallen in love. I thank all the gods in the universe for making you realize that you are in love", Payal said.
"But Payal...", Khushi's words were stopped in the middle, when they heard someone clearing his throat.
Both Payal and Khushi turned around and saw the man who was standing in front of them. Both of them were in shock after seeing the perfect figure in front of them, and he took slow steps towards them. Payal excused and left Khushi alone with the man whom they were talking about. Yes, it was Arnav.
The day Arnav left Khushi and arrived in UK, he didn't miss her much as she missed him. Because for him work was important in life. But later when he called Khushi that day, and when he couldn't get in touch with her, he felt as if he would die if he didn't get to know where she was. To top it all, when Lavanya said that she didn't know where Khushi was, he was furious. He was so worried, that he wished if he could take the next flight and fly back to India. That day he realized, that she was not just his bride-to-be, but she meant something more in his life. But he still didn't know whether it was love. As the days passed by, he realized that everyday during his work, he was checking the time continuously, as to when he would be able to talk to her. He longed to hear her sweet voice. He was now aware that he missed her a lot. He didn't know how he was able to concentrate on his work these few days. Although it was a matter of seven days, he felt as if he had to stay for 700 days. Thanks to Rahul, he somehow managed to survive these few days. But yesterday, when finally his show was a success he felt glad. And when he was standing on the ramp and was praised by all the guests through applause and cheers, he felt as he was missing someone today. And he realized who it was. He wanted to share his joy with that very person and yesterday, at that moment he realized he loved her a lot. So he took the early morning flight today, so that he could meet his love as soon as possible.
Khushi was shocked to see Arnav standing in front of her right now. She was feeling nervous, as she was worried thinking whether he heard what she said with Payal earlier. She felt her blood draining out of her face, due to fear. She felt as if she was tongue-tied. But she somehow managed to utter few words.
"Arnav, what are you doing here? I mean you were supposed to return tomorrow, right?", Khushi tried to sound as normal as possible.
"So you are not glad to see me here now?", Arnav asked firmly.
Khushi was now even more scared, as she couldn't figure out what mood Arnav was in. But clearly he didn't seem to be happy.
"No, no. It's just that I was hoping to see you tomorrow", Khushi said.
"So you would be more glad if I came tomorrow, and not today?", Arnav asked again.
"Stop it Arnav. I'm glad that you came today. But how did you know I was here?". Khushi asked curiously.
"I went to your place, and Rama told that you were here", Arnav replied casually.
"Good that you came. Now you also can attend the sangeet ceremony. Come on, lets go. Payal must be waiting", Khushi said. She took hold of Arnav's hand, hoping to drag him downstairs.
But in turn Arnav took hold of Khushi's wrist and made her face him. She looked straight in to his eyes, and she realized something different about his eyes today. There was no anger, nu guilt, no pain, no passion, but it was something different. But she didn't know what it was.
"Tell me Khushi, what were you talking about with Payal before?", Arnav asked, hoping that Khushi would open up first.
"Nothing Arnav, I was crying, as I was sad that Payal would be leaving after marriage. She came to console me. That's it", Khushi lied.
Khushi was now looking down, and Arnav knew that she was lying.
"So what you told about you missing me, and that whole conversation you had with Payal wasn't true?", Arnav asked angrily.
Khushi once again looked into his eyes and realized that there was no point in hiding the truth anymore. So she confessed her feelings without thinking for a second what the consequences would be.
"I'm sorry, Arnav. I never knew that I will have this much of strong feelings for you. I really didn't mean to get attracted to you in this way, but it just happened. I know you don't want to marry a girl who wishes to be loved, and I really wish you would change your mind today. Because I'm in love with you, Arnav. All this time love was an unwanted desire for me, but today I realized I really want to be loved by you. But I'm not asking you to love me. After knowing what I feel for you now, I'm ready to break off the engagement right away, if that's what makes you happy. Because all I want to see is your happiness. But else if your ready to marry me even after knowing that I'm in love with you, I'm ready to go along with our marriage, because I think my love for you would be enough for both of us to move on", Khushi kept on revealing her feelings, while tears started to roll down her face again.
By now the moon had successfully defeated the dark queen, and was spreading it's silver beams to the whole surrounding. The stars were no longer hidden by the dark clouds and they were shining as if they were waiting to see the response of the young man, hoping it would be a good one. Arnav was surprised to see how innocent Khushi was and her angelic face looked more beautiful due to the glow that was present, due to the moon. He softly cupped her face and looked into her eyes.
"I love you too, Khushi", Arnav said softly in his husky voice. He wiped Khushi tears with his thumbs and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
Khushi wasn't sure whether she was living in a dream or reality. She couldn't believe what she heard. Arnav saw the surprised look in her eyes and he continued to tell what he really felt for her.
"Yes Khushi, I really love you. I don't know when it happened, but somehow it happened. And today I have realized that my mom has sent you as my angel. Yes Khushi, that's what you are for me, an angel. Past few days made me realize how much I missed you. And yesterday when I was on the ramp, being praised by all the international guests, I realized someone was missing. Then only I realized it was you I missed, and that I had fallen in love with you. I really wished you were there to share what I felt, but you weren't. I couldn't wait anymore, so I took the flight that was available and came as fast as possible".
Khushi was now feeling as if her heart would pop out with joy. Never in her dreams did she believe that Arnav would love her. She now felt as if her parents were watching from heaven, and had sent Arnav as her guardian. She thanked her Devi Maiyya for making Arnav part of her life. She couldn't keep her joy hidden anymore, so she hugged Arnav as tight as possible. They now felt as if they were the luckiest people in the whole world. After sometime they broke their hug and Arnav broke the silence.
"Khushi I know that you are not my first love, but one thing I'm sure of is that you will be my last love. I will love you till the day I breath my last breathe. I will always be there for you no matter what, and I will try to give all the happiness in the world", Arnav said, placing another kiss on her cheek.
Khushi was feeling all lost after Arnav's words, she stood in her toes and gave her first kiss on his cheeks. Arnav could now see that Khushi's rosy cheeks were dark red and that she was feeling shy. He slowly turned her around and he was now standing behind her. He took something out of a box, and slowly grazed his fingers on her nape and made her silky hair lie on one shoulder. Khushi could feel a shiver running down her spine right now and she closed her eyes enjoying the moment. Arnav slowly slipped the necklace around her neck and placed a soft kiss on the side of her neck. Khushi opened her eyes as she realized the feeling of something being placed on her neck. She looked down and saw that Arnav had gifted a simple gold necklace with a letter "A" pendant (http://www.getprice.com.au/images/uploadimg/344/_1_65046_A.jpg). Her face filled with the million dollar worth smile, and she said in her sweet, soft tone, "I love you Arnav, I love you a lot".
Arnav slipped his arms around her waist and Khushi placed her hands on his. He rested his chin on her shoulder and whispered in his husky tone, "I love you too Khushi, I love you more". They looked at the far horizon, while enjoying each others warmth. They now knew that they were made for each other, and they were ready to face every obstacle they would come across in their journey together in the future.
Far away on the night sky, there were three stars shining bright, as if smiling after seeing how much their kids loved each other.
Will Arnav enjoy Payal's sangeet ceremony, as he is not much into these kinds of occasions? What will be the bad news given by Payal, to Khushi and Arnav? Will Lavanya realize that Arnav and Khushi's bond was getting stronger?

Chapter 20

Chapter 20 - Pining

It had been one day since Arnav left to London, and Khushi was already missing him. She was in her room, drawing some sketches, hoping that it would help her to forget how much she missed Arnav. A sudden knock on the door made Khushi come back to her senses.
"Come in", Khushi said.
"Hey Khushi", Lavanya said, in a cheerful tone.
"Hi, what are you doing here? I mean, you never come into my room", Khushi said in a surprised tone.
"Akash told me that Arnav had gone to UK for a week. So Akash wanted me to check on you, and make sure that you are fine", Lavanya said in a concerned tone.
Khushi was surprised at Lavanya's behaviour. All these years Lavanya had been rude to her, and suddenly here she was all concerned about her.
"Okay Lav, what's going on? Why are you all nice to me suddenly?", Khushi asked, in the hope of clearing her doubts.
"I know I have been rude to you all these years, but I'm going to step in to a new life after my marriage. I don't want to ruin my happiness by having small rifts between us. You will be my sister-in-law. So I want to start it on a happy note", Lavanya said, trying to make Khushi understand her intentions.
"Really Lav, I'm glad that you changed your mind. Thanks", Khushi said and hugged Lavanya.
Lavanya patted Khushi and broke the hug.
"Well Arush will be visiting in the afternoon, do you want to join us Khushi?", Lavanya asked politely.
"Yeah sure. It would be great", Khushi agreed.
After Lavanya left, Khushi went deep into her thoughts. "How come Lavanya change so quickly? All these years, she hated me and all of a sudden she is being nice to me? This is beyond impossible. Something is surely cooking in her mind. I really have to be careful", Khushi thought to herself.
Khushi was suddenly brought back to reality by the ringing tone of her phone. As soon as she saw the caller ID, she got all excited. It was an international call and she knew the only person who would call from abroad today was Arnav. So she quickly answered the phone.
"Hey Arnav", Khushi said cheerfully.
"Sorry to disappoint you my Bhabhi-to-be, but it's Rahul", Rahul said in a teasing tone.
"Oh sorry Rahul, I thought it was Arnav", Khushi said in a worried tone.
"It's alright. I know that you miss him. That's why Arnav asked me to call you and tell you that he reached safely. He also told that he will call you tonight", Rahul said.
"Oh okay. Well how are you both?", Khushi asked.
"We both are fine. Well I gotta go, I have to go and meet Arnav downstairs. I will let him know that you miss him", Rahul again said in his teasing tone.
"Stop it Rahul. Ok then. Both of you, take care. Bye", Khushi said laughing.
"Bye Bhabhi-to-be", Rahul hung up the phone while chuckling.
As soon as the call was over, Khushi was feeling sad. "Why couldn't Arnav call me? Is he really that busy, that he couldn't find 5 minutes to talk to me? Does he miss me at all?", Khushi once again thought to herself. She was now feeling more gloomy. And to top it all, it was the rainy season. She went near the window and looked outside. The whole sky was gray in colour, as there were so many rainy clouds floating above. There was no sign of the sun and she was feeling as if it was one of the worst days of her life. She didn't know what to do, in order to keep herself occupied without thinking about Arnav. Then as if her Devi Maiyya had heard her pleas, she got a call from her music teacher.
It was around 2pm and she was now in the music class. Earlier her music teacher had asked if Khushi could spare sometime and teach the kids, as she wanted to go out for a while. Khushi had agreed gladly, as she was feeling really down. So she was now here, with her all time favourite kids. All of them were having a wonderful time singing, playing the piano and chatting. When it was time for the kids to leave, Khushi felt bad again. All the kids bid Khushi good bye, and now Khushi was in her car. She checked the time and it was 4.30pm. She remembered that Arush would be visiting today. So she took her phone to call Lavanya to say that she would be late. But she was shocked to see that her phone battery was dead.
"Great!!! This was the only thing which was left to happen", Khushi said to herself angrily.
Khushi was driving towards her home and now it was raining outside. Although she wanted reach home quickly, she was unable to do so, as their was so much of traffic and to go with it, it was raining heavily.
In Gupta house, Lavanya was all busy playing with Arush. Arush came to visit Lavanya today, because all the members of the Raizada family had gone for a wedding. They didn't want to take Arush, as he had to go to school next day. Although Akash had hesitated to leave Arush with Lavanya, Anjali had made him understand, that Arush needed to bond with Lavanya, so that it would be easy for them to get along after Lavanya's marriage to Akash. So finally Akash had agreed with Anjali's idea.
A sudden ring of the landline phone echoed in the whole house.
"Rama, check the phone", Lavanya shouted.
Rama came running and she answered the phone.
"Hello", Rama said innocently.
"Hello, is this Gupta house?", a male voice answered.
"Yes. Who is speaking?", Rama asked, as she had no clue who was on the other side.
"It's Arnav. Is Khushi at home?", Arnav asked, hoping to speak to Khushi.
"Arre Arnav Bhaiya, Didi tho ghar me nahi he", Rama answered.
As soon as Lavanya heard the words "Arnav Bhaiya", she came running towards the phone. She snatched the phone from Rama, and told her to leave.
"Hey Arnav", Lavanya answered with joy.
"Hey Lavanya, where is Khushi? I can't contact her as herr phone is not working", Arnav asked curiously.
"Well she went out. But don't know where. I will tell her that you called. How are you? I mean Akash told...", Lavanya was stopped in the middle by Arnav.
"Lavanya I have to go now. Tell Khushi to call me back to this number as soon as she comes home. Write this number down. Bye", saying this Arnav ended the call as he had no interest in talking with Lavanya.
Lavanya was angry with Arnav for ignoring her, but she was glad that Khushi was not at home right now. She threw away the paper she wrote down Arnav's number and with a wicked smile, she went to Arush and continued to play with him.
It was around 6pm when Khushi reached home. She was tired like hell. When she came in, she saw Lavanya playing with Arush. She was glad to see Lavanya getting along well with Arush. Lavanya saw that Khushi had arrived.
"Hey, you came? What happened to you? Where were you all this time?", Lavanya asked.
"I went to the music class. Before I went, I tried to tell you, but you were having your afternoon nap. So I left without telling you. But when I was about to call you, I saw that my battery was dead. Sorry", Khushi said apologetically.
"Wow Chachi, you teach music. Can you teach me to play the piano as well?", Arush asked with excitement.
"Of  course, why not? I will go and change and come. Until that, play with your mom-to-be", Khushi said smiling.
"Where is Chachu and Chachi Lavanya?"
"Mom and dad went to a client's party. They will get late", Lavanya said.
Khushi went to her room and immediately put her phone to be charged. Since her battery was dead, she couldn't check whether there were any messages. So she had a bath and came downstairs. All three of them had dinner together. Khushi was now teaching Arush how to play the piano. They were having an awesome time. Khushi suddenly remembered what Rahul had said. It was around 10pm now, and still Arnav had not called her. She was now worried and upset at the same time. Lavanya had already retired to her room. Khushi now felt that it was time for Arush to go to sleep as well.
"Okay Buddy, it's time to go to sleep. Lets go", Khushi said cheerfully.
Arush was surprised at the way Khushi called her Buddy. Khushi saw the surprised look on Arush's face.
"What?", Khushi asked.
"Nahi. It's just that Arnav Chachu calls me Buddy. So when you called me Buddy, I remembered him", Arush said in a soft tone.
"You miss him, don't you? Me too. He didn't at least call me. I'm not going to spare him", Khushi said angrily.
Arush chuckled and said, "Chachi, you are just like Chachu. I think you both are made for each other. Getting angry and all that. Chachi can I sleep with you today. Actually, I normally sleep with dad. But he is not here nah. Lavanya mom is also sleeping. So can I?", Arush asked with pleading eyes.
"Is it something to ask even? Come on. Lets go and sleep. Even I'm tired", saying that, Khushi and Arush went towards Khushi's room.
Khushi tucked Arush under the sheets and placed a kiss on his forehead lovingly.
"You know Chachi, whenever I sleep with Chachu, he does the same", Arush said smiling at Khushi. Khushi smiled and wished Arush good night. She switched off the table lamp and went to check her phone.
She was shocked to see 15 messages. And every single message was from Arnav. She read every single message and she was upset now. After reading the messages only she had realized that he was worried for her, not a bit but a lot. In the last message he seemed to be angry. So she dialed his number and hoped that he would answer. But her efforts were useless. She was now in tears. What could she do? Neither was it his fault, or hers. Suddenly her phone rang, and she answered hoping it was Arnav.
"Hey Khushi, Come on skype, now", Rahul quickly said and cut the phone.
Khushi wiped her tears and switched on her laptop. As Rahul said, Khushi went online. She saw there was a new contact alert and it was from Arnav. She accepted the contact with a smile. And she made a video call.
Khushi was surprised to see Rahul on the other end.
"Hey Bhabhi!!!!!!!!!! How are you?", Rahul said, while waving at Khushi.
Khushi waved at Rahul, but was feeling a little shy as she was in her pyjamas (http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4509720772608905&pid=15.1).
"Hey Rahul, I'm doing great. Where is Arnav? I mean, are you both in the same room?", Khushi asked.
"No, no. Are you kidding me? How can we both be in the same room? He is so boring dude. I would die out of boredom, if I spent one night with him. He asked me to talk to you until he came out of the shower", Rahul said in his jovial tone.
"Really Rahul. I thought I just said to send a request? May be you didn't understand what I said?", Khushi heard the voice she was longing to hear since a long time.
"Nahi Arnav, woh kya hai ki...", Rahul was lost in his own words.
"I know you Rahul. Get lost, you flirt. Go and sleep or do whatever you want, without disturbing me", Arnav said in a rough tone.
"Sorry dude. See you Bhabhi. Good night", Rahul left saying good bye to Khushi.
Arnav was now onscreen. Khushi had never seen Arnav in night clothes, with messy hair. He looked like a teenager today.
"Hey Khushi, where were you all this time? How many messages did you think I sent you? I was worried for you, dammit? Your phone wasn't working, so I called to your land line number. Lavanya said that she didn't even know where you were. Where were you?", Arnav continued in an angry tone.
"I'm sorry Arnav. I went to the music class today. Becasue my music teacher had to go out for sometime, she wanted me to teach the kids. Then later only I saw that my phone was dead. On my way home, I got stuck in traffic, and to top it all it was raining. After I came home I put my phone to be charged, but at that time the phone was totally dead. So I couldn't check the messages. After having dinner, I had to teach Arush to play the piano. I totally lost track of time. I really didn't know that you called my land-line number", Khushi said in her soft, apologetic tone.
Arnav knew Khushi was so upset and he didn't want to see tears in Khushi's eyes. She was looking cute in her pajamas and her open hair was tickling Khushi's cheeks. Her innocent face made Arnav forget his anger. So he thought of calming her down.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. I was just worried for you. But didn't Lavanya tell you that I called? I mean I gave her a number even", Arnav said in a suspicious tone.

"No she didn't. Anyway, I knew she was up to something", Khushi told Arnav the way Lavanya had been nice to her the whole day.
"Khushi, be careful. There is something fishy about her", Arnav said.
"Anyway, is Arush at your place? I mean why?", Arnav asked curiously.
"Oh, you didn't know. Your family has gone for a wedding and they left him here, so that he can attend school tomorrow", Khushi said.
"Did he trouble you? Is he sleeping now?", Arnav asked.
"No, no, he didn't trouble me at all. He is such a sweet kid. He is sleeping with me today", Khushi said.
They continued their conversation for a long time, and neither of them cared what the time was. It was around 3am, when finally Khushi dozed off to sleep, with a smile of satisfaction on her face.
Will Khushi realize that the feelings she has for Arnav is love? Will Arnav realize that he loves Khushi?
