Khushi looked herself on the mirror after doing the final touch ups. "Well, not bad Khushi", she thought to herself and smiled to herself. She was wearing a pretty beige dress (http://www.sweetandlovelylife.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Pretty-Beige-Dress.jpg) and her hair was done in a half ponytail. She looked simple, yet charming.
She came downstairs and went to the kitchen to find the housemaid, Rama.
"Rama, Rama", she called as there was no sign of Rama in the kitchen.
"Ji Didi?", Rama came with a slight smile on her face.
"Rama, I will be going out now. Tell Chachi that I will be late, but I will be back before dinner".
"Okay Khushi Didi. Take care", Rama said with concern.
Khushi nodded, and left saying good bye to Rama.
Rama waved at her with a smile. Rama liked Khushi a lot. She thought Khushi was a really nice person. For her Khushi was like her own elder sister. Rama felt, that Khushi cared for her more than the other members of the family.
Khushi drove in her car to the music class. Khushi loved driving as she felt free of all the problems that followed her around. She loved her car a lot (http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=I.4885427256296155&pid=15.1), because she brought it from her first salary. Once she reached the class, she rang the door bell of her music teacher's house.
"Well, well, look who we have here children?", said Miss Shanthi while opening the door.
Seven kids came running as soon as they heard what their teacher said.
"Khushi Didi", a small girl cried out loud with happiness.
She ran to Khushi and hugged Khushi's legs. Khushi kneeled down and touched the cheeks of the small kid lovingly.
"Sneha!!!!! How is my favourite girl doing?", she asked joyously.
"I'm doing great Di, will you be staying with us today?", Sneha asked hopefully.
"Well your Khushi Di will be teaching you today, as I have something important to do in the town. I hope it's okay with you Khushi?", Miss Shanthi asked.
"Of course Auntie. Don't worry, I will teach them and take care of them as well", said Khushi happily, while winking at the kids.
"Thanks a lot beta, I'm glad that you came today. Look, when you finish the class at 4pm, you can leave. Don't wait until the kids leave. Shriya (Miss Shanthi's maid) will take care of them", Miss Shanthi said politely.
"Okay Auntie, I will", Khushi agreed.
Miss Shanthi asked the kids to behave properly and left saying good bye to all of them.
Khushi and the kids spent one and half hours doing all kind of fun stuff. Khushi sang along with the kids while she played the piano. Kids loved Khushi's voice as she sang like a bird. It was a really lovely voice. Then all of them played a game, where one kid would play a song, while the others had to guess the song. After the fun session, although kids hated, they were supposed to do the theory part. Khushi knew the kids hated to do the theory part, as she herself hated to do theory, when she was small. But some how with her unique tactics, she was able to make the kids attend to do the theory part. She was now looking at every kid who were sitting in front of her and were busy doing their work. Her eyes stopped at the little girl who earlier came running to hug her.
Khushi's mind drifted to the past, where one day she met Sneha's mom, when she had come to the class to pick her kid. Sneha's mom and Khushi talked for a bit, but the small talk between the teacher-parent duo was later led into a conversation. That day Khushi got to know more about Sneha's life. Sneha's parents died from an accident when she was 6 years old. After the accident, Sneha was taken under the care of an orphanage. But one day, the god sent two guardians to take care of Sneha. A couple who were unable to have kids. They immediately showed a liking towards Sneha, and they adopted her. They were not that rich, but they were able to provide a roof to live for this child. And her basic necessities were provided. While talking to Sneha's mom Khushi realized one thing. That is, these parents loved their kid a lot and they cared for her a lot, even though she was not their blood. At the end of the conversation Khushi had tears of joy in her eyes, as she was happy that Sneha's destiny was different from hers. A sudden pinch on her hand, broke Khushi's train of thoughts.
"Di, it's 4", a small boy said while smiling at her.
"Kya?", Khushi was surprised. She checked the time. The boy was right. She wondered how she lost track of time.
"Okay everyone, it's time to leave. Pack your stuff, lets go and check whether your parents are here", Khushi said.
Kids soon packed their stuff and they all went out. All the kids left with their parents, while waving their hands at their favourite teacher, except for one. Sneha was left, as her mom had not yet arrived. Khushi was thinking whether to leave her or not, when Sneha broke the silence.
"Khushi Didi, you can leave. I can wait with Shriya", Sneha said sweetly.
Khushi checked the time, it was 4.20. She had to leave, because it would at least take 30 minutes to reach the AR Office, even without traffic. But this is Mumbai, and there was no way that there would be no traffic. Therefore her mind said to leave, but here decision also depended on her heart. Her heart didn't let her leave, as she felt a strong attraction towards the kid. Finally after few minutes, the competition between the mind and heart was won by the heart. So she decided to stay. So Khushi and Sneha went inside the house and start talking and joking, until Sneha's mom would arrive. After sometime, the door bell rang. Khushi checked the door and it was Sneha's mom. She apologized to Khushi for the inconvenience caused. But Khushi said it was alright. Sneha gave another hug to Khushi and left with her mom. Khushi went to her car. She was about to start the car, but before that she checked the time. It was 4.40pm.
"Shit, I'm a dead duck", Khushi said to herself.
She started her car and drove away, praying all the gods in the universe to at least clear the road to AR office, so at least it would take only 30 minutes minimum to reach there. But she knew, that the Great ASR would rip her apart today for being late.
Within the four walls of his cabin, Arnav was working on his laptop. Suddenly he checked the time. It was 5.10pm already. He felt the anger rising within himself. He started to think to himself.
"Well, she is late on the first day. What does she think of herself? I don't understand why nowadays people don't understand the value of time and specially all these high class people. Just because they are from high class they think that the time stops when it comes to them. But in reality the time is running. Why is it so hard for them to understand that "Time is time". No wonder Miss Gupta is late. After all she is the daughter of a top class lawyer in the country. Surely must be a spoiled rich girl, just like in other families. I can't imagine I accepted her to do this job, just because Payal recommended her", he had to give a break to his thoughts, when he heard the slight knock on his cabin door.
"Come in, Miss Gupta", he said with a rough voice.
Khushi slowly opened the door and came in. She was slightly shivering, but she composed herself appropriately. She looked at the man who was sitting on his chair and was staring straight at her eyes. It didn't even take a second for Khushi to figure out that he was angry. She felt that her legs were becoming weak, and fear was slowly invading her mind. But Khushi being Khushi, never let negative thoughts invade her mind so easily. So she put up a brave face, and started to speak without realizing that she didn't at least greet the "Great ASR".
What will happen next? How will their meeting continue? Will it be all friendly or the other way around? Will the "Great ASR" give the job to Khushi? WIll Khushi accept the job? What would each of them think of the other person?
